I have known Marguerite johnson for 84 years. We were first grade classmates in orange central school in Massachusetts and all the way through high school. She was a gem, extremely well liked, alot of fun. She was a very good person. I know the good lord will take very good care of her. I would like to extend my sincere condolences on behalf of the orange high school class of 1946. Art loveley, III. Nyc

Dr. Bumpus was a professor at U.R.I. when I was a student there in the early 1980s. I was lucky to have her for a few classes as I was an elementary education major. She was an inspiration as a teacher. I loved her sense of humor and the way she really cared for all of her students. My sincere condolences.

To Margie's family and friends, I express my sympathy for your loss of such a special person. I know her absence will leave such a void, but I also know that your special moments and memories will strengthen you.
I have known and loved Margie my whole life! She was my mom' s first cousin, but in terms of age she was midway between my mom and myself. Some of my earliest memories include Margie. I have thought about what one characteristic most represents her in my mind, but I cannot choose among her wonderful humor, often aimed at herself, her intellectual brilliance, the courage and accomplishments of a lifetime, and her love of family. These are all part of who she was.
I will miss her spontaneous texts and our phone conversations, her empathy as I found my way in life after the death of my husband, her uncanny way of reaching out to me just when I needed her support and love most. I loved her dearly and I know how much she loved all of her family members! She will be in my heart until we meet again.

To the family of Dr. Bumpus,
I am extremely sorry for your loss. Marge was a professor of mine, and I recall her as an exceptionally nice and genuinely caring person. She made me want to do my best academically, at all times. I shall always remember her fondly, and I will keep her in my prayers. Again, my deepest condolences to all of you.

To my cousins, I am so sorry. There truly are no words. Please know we mourn deeply with you.
Recently my mom and I got to visit with Aunt Marguerite for an early birthday celebration. We brought gifts (and she had gifts for us as well!), a balloon and a birthday pie. We ate, we laughed and we shared in some sass at the restaurant where she and Uncle Curt would eat fish and chips every Friday night.
I adored this woman.
About a week or so ago, she sent me a gift thanking me for visiting with my mom and for the early birthday celebration we enjoyed. She sent me pajamas covered in fancy lady stuff like perfume bottles, lipstick, mascara, bobby pins, jewelry, and of course, high heeled shoes! The card read "the pictures on these pj's may make you think of me" and she signed it "your ditzy Aunt M". Silly? Yes. Sassy? Oh definitely yes. Fresh? A tad! But ditzy? Nah.
I will miss the fun she brought to my mom. Sisters...
I will miss Aunt Marguerite, a lot. And you bet I will be thinking of her every time I put on those fancy flannel pajamas!
