Paul Wendoloski Obituary

WENDOLOSKI, PAUL E., SR., 69, of Foster, RI and formerly of Warwick, N. Kingston and Coventry, passed away on Sunday, September 12, 2010 at Kent County Hospital in Warwick, RI surrounded by his family, following a brief but courageous battle with cancer.

Paul was born in Providence, RI on July 21, 1941. He was the son of the late Chester

Wendoloski,

Sr. and Margaret (Simmons) Wendoloski of Warwick, RI.

He is survived by his mother and his wife of 11 years, Jo-Ann (Jalbert) (Masterson) Wendoloski of Foster, RI.

He graduated from Warwick Veterans High School in 1959 and went on to enlist in the United States Marine Corp, rising to the rank of Lance Corporal and joining forces in the Bay of Pigs invasion of Cuba.

He began his long professional career as a Police Officer with the Warwick, RI Police Department, where he worked tirelessly for 25 years, until he retired as a Detective in 1987. While there, he was instrumental in the establishment of the Police Athletic League and earned a degree in Criminal Justice from Salve Regina College in 1975.

Unwilling to cease doing what he loved, he then began working for Providence College as a Lieutenant in the Security Division, until he finally retired his badge after 22 years there, in December of 2009. Paul was a member of the Fraternal Order of Police and was an avid golfer and gardener.

In addition to his mother and his wife, Paul is survived by his daughter Lisa Hollywood and her husband Michael of Odenton, MA, his son Paul Wendoloski, Jr. of Cranston, RI, his step-daughter Denise Masterson-Burke and her husband Richard of Chepachet, RI, step-sons James Masterson of Racine, WI, Shawn Masterson and his wife Kathleen of Rehoboth, MA and Glenn Masterson and his wife Serena of Lynbrook, NY. He is also survived by his brother Chester Wendoloski, Jr. and his wife Sheila of Coventry, RI. Additionally, he is survived by 2 grandchildren and 11 step-grandchildren, Nicholas, Dylan, Seamus, Caimen, Aidan, Isabella, James, Maeve, Patrick, Christine, Madeline Rose, Mary-Catherine and Cormac.

Paul's family would like to acknowledge the staff at Kent County Hospital, specifically Dr. Przygoda and the nurses of 2 West, as well as the VNA of RI, for the excellent care they provided and the Brooklyn, CT School Department for their support.

Funeral, to which relatives and friends are invited, will be from the Russell J. Boyle & Son Funeral Home, 142 Centerville Road, Warwick 02886 on Thursday, September 16 at 8:15 a.m. Mass of Christian Burial to follow at 10:00 a.m. at St. Paul the Apostle, 116A Danielson Pike Foster, RI 02825. Dear Jo-Ann & family,

I am so sorry to hear about Paul. I know his battle with this terrible disease was courageous and that he will be missed by many people.

I am so sorry I cannot attend Paul's services since work has taken me out of state, but know that my thoughts and prayers are with you at this time.

It was a pleasure and honor to know Paul over many years as a brother on the Warwick Police Department and as an avid member of our WPD Golf League.

On behalf of the Golf League, our condolences are with you and your entire family. We will raise our glasses to Paul and George Mauk and dedicate this season to their memories.

As a fraternal brother, golfer, and friend, I thank you for the time you spent here with us all.

Paul; may you find fewer sand traps in heaven an many more greens.

Fore!
