Paul Wayne Fry

Waynesboro - Mr. Paul Wayne Fry, 90, of Waynesboro, PA, died Sunday afternoon, May 24, 2020 in the emergency room of the Waynesboro Hospital.

Born April 18, 1930 in Sabillasville, MD, he was the son of the late Paul C. and Helen L. (Williar) Fry.

He graduated from Thurmont High School with the Class of 1948. He later attended the University of Maryland.

Mr. Fry served as a Sergeant in the United States Marines during the Korean Conflict. He served with Headquarters 2nd Marine Division, Fleet Marine Force.

He and his wife, the late Winifred E. (Keckler) Fry, were married on October 7, 1951 in Hagerstown, MD. Mrs. Fry died on February 11, 2001.

In his early life, Mr. Fry worked with his father in the lumber and saw mill profession in the Sabillasville area. Prior to retiring on July 1, 1988 he was a supervisor with the Department of Public Safety and Corrections and also the Maryland Environmental Service, both in Maryland. He retired after more than 35 years of service.

He was a member of The Evangelical Lutheran Church, Waynesboro, Acacia Lodge #586 F.&A.M., Waynesboro, Harrisburg Consistory, Zembo Shrine, Franklin County Shrine Club, where he served on the board of directors when it was the Waynesboro Shrine Club, Zembo Shrine Legion of Honor, Tall Cedars of Lebanon Forest #95, Hagerstown, B.P.O. Elks Lodge #378, Hagerstown, Fraternal Order of the Eagles #1758, Waynesboro, Eagles Club, Inc., Loyal Order of the Moose #1191, Waynesboro, Waynesboro Fish and Game, Order of the Owls Nest #1073, where he served as president, Owls Club, Inc., Joe Stickell American Legion Post #15, where he served as Post Commander from 1995-1996, Landis-McCleaf Marine Corps League Detachment #132, where he served as a trustee, Marine Corps Military Order of the Devil Dogs Honor Society, 29th Division Association Lantern Post #729, National AARP, South Chapter #2977 AARP, Maryland Classified Employees Association and he was a life member of the Blue Ridge Sportsman's Association.

Mr. Fry served many years as a delegate with the Maryland Classified Employees Association and six years on the Washington Township Municipal Authority Board, three of those years as chairman. He enjoyed traveling and was an avid hunter.

He is survived by one daughter, Kimberly S. Shoemaker, Waynesboro; one sister, Janet M. Trimble of Chester, MD; one brother, Ray W. Fry of Waynesboro; and several nieces and nephews.

In addition to his wife and parents, he was preceded in death by one brother, Morris C. Fry.

Private graveside services will be held in Green Hill Cemetery, Waynesboro with Rev. Dennis Beaver officiating.
