Charles William Anderson, 84, of North Liberty, Iowa, passed away on August 4, 2022 surrounded by family.
Chuck was born on October 21, 1937 in Davenport, Iowa to Gustav and Violet Anderson. He graduated from Davenport Central High School and received a Bachelors of Science in Mechanical Engineering from the University of Iowa. At the University of Iowa, he was a member of the university swim team, rifle team and Phi Kappai Sigma.
In 1966, Chuck married Constance Stewart in Davenport. He retired from the Rock Island Arsenal and US Army Reserves as Lieutenant Colonel. He spent over 20 years teaching at the reserves' officer training school in Davenport. After retirement, Chuck spent many years coaching his children in swimming. He was the assistant swim coach at Augustana College and head swim coach for the Quad City Orcas swim team. He also enjoyed fishing, boating, wood working and Iowa Hawkeye football.
Charles is survived by his wife, Constance; children: Christina (David) Smigo; Carlin Anderson and Clinton (Ana) Anderson as well as seven grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his parents and one sister.
Private family services and military honors will be held at the Rock Island National Cemetery in Illinois. Memorial donations may be made to Wounded Warriors and online condolences may be shared at www.lensingfuneral.com

I never knew Chuck personally. I do remember him coaching the Orcas when my daughter swam for an opposing team. I always thought He did an amazing job with his team. Prayers to his family.
