ROCK ISLAND-Ronald "Ron" E. Carlyle, 75, of Rock Island, passed away Wednesday, May 17, 2023, at UnityPoint Health-Trinity, Rock Island. A Mass of Christian Burial will be 11:00 a.m. Friday, May 26, 2023, at St. Pius X Catholic Church, Rock Island. Visitation will be one-hour prior to the mass from 10:00 a.m. to 11:00 a.m. Friday at the church. Inurnment with military honors will be in Rock Island National Cemetery, Arsenal Island. Wheelan-Pressly Funeral Home and Crematory, Milan is assisting Ron's family with arrangements. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to the Quad City Animal Welfare Center, Milan.
Ron was born September 18, 1947, in St. Louis, Missouri, a son of Morris and Marjorie (Clouse) Carlyle. He married Rhonda McNichols on December 6, 1965. Ron proudly served in the U.S. Army and was honorably discharged after nearly 16 years of service. He worked at John Deere and the Rock Island Arsenal before retiring. Ron was a member of St. Pius X Catholic Church in Rock Island. He enjoyed reading, history, traveling, and sitting on his porch enjoying the outdoors. Ron especially loved doing fun things with his great-granddaughter, Sophia. Above all, Ron loved life.
Those left to cherish Ron's memory include his wife of 57 years, Rhonda; son, Ronald (Terri) Carlyle Jr.; great-granddaughter, Sophia Carlyle; brother, Russ Carlyle; brothers and sisters-in-law, David McNichols, Bob and Marie McNichols, Byron and Linda McNichols, Nora and Darrell Kelsall, and Allen and Barb McNichols; and several nieces and nephews.
Ron was preceded in death by his parents; daughter, Renee Carlyle; and granddaughter, Raquel Carlyle.

I always remember my Uncle Ronnie as a kind and loving uncle with tidbits of wisdom that sometimes would change my entire moral perspective subjectively. He will and always has been missed in my life from the moment I lost him. I love you, Uncle Ronnie!
