A.C. Ross

A.C. Ross, a long time Tucumcari, NM, resident, passed away recently in Texas, while living in Austin, TX, with his son Cliff.
A.C.  was born February 11, 1918, in Carthage, TX, but moved to Oklahoma at an early age. He was from a family of 7. After finishing high school during the Great Depression, he went  to many places working in California, Alaska, Iran and Panama.  He acquired the skills in construction that he used throughtout his lifetime.  He served in the United States Army Air Force during World War II. On January 13 1944, he married his beloved Gerry on January 13, 1944.
After the war, the Rosses lived in Washington State and Oklahoma. They lived in Tucumcari, NM, for more than 40 years. A.C. came to Tucumcari, NM, in 1958, and started the ACE Ready Mix Concrete Plant. He built and owned, for many years, the Sun Air Apartments. The Rosses moved to Australia before moving back to Tucumcari. A. C.  developed Hills Village and water line and the Ross Addition, where he and his wife have made their home. He was a member of the First Christian Church, the B.P.O Elks Lodge 1172 of Tucumcari, the Mesa Country Club and he loved to play golf. He will be missed by his friends and  community.
 Surviving A. C. Ross is his wife, Gerry of the home;  his son, Cliff Ross of Austin, TX;  two grandchildren, Travis and
Pam along with a large extended family including one brother and three sisters and many friends.
 A memorial service celebrating his life will be conducted in the First Christian Church at 1701 South 4th Street in Tucumcari, NM, at 11:00 AM on Saturday February 14, 2009, with Rev. Jim Witcher, Minister of the First Christian Church officiating.
    Following his wishes, cremation has taken place.
