Patrick Jenson Obituary

RAPID CITY - Patrick Michael Jenson joined his Heavenly Father on Sunday, Jan. 2, 2011.

Pat was born May 25, 1970, in Watertown. Pat was always a good little boy and possessed a quiet grace that those around him couldn't help but notice. Pat loved his younger brother, Paul, and they spent many hours playing outside around the farm. He was baptized and confirmed at the Lutheran Church of Our Redeemer in Watertown.

He met the love of his life, Amy, in 1988 while both were attending high school. They were true loves from the very beginning. Pat holds the key to Amy's heart. They were inseparable. Any challenge, great or small, that Pat and Amy experienced only served to strengthen their love and commitment. Pat and Amy were united in Christian marriage on July 5, 2003, at Sylvan Lake. His son, Jed Daniel, was born in July 2004 and daughter, Chloe Jean, followed in September 2006. He coached his son Jed's tee-ball team and participated with him in other sports, which made his heart sing. He adored his daughter Chloe or "little fella" as she insisted on being addressed. He never missed a dance practice, and she never missed a chance to paint his toenails.

He held various positions as a CDL driver and in the gaming industry, but had a strong calling toward a career helping people in a crisis center setting.

Pat always had an engaging personality and attracted many lifelong friends. He was known for his unmatched sense of humor and unique outlook on life. He was keenly attuned to his children's needs and always put his family first. He came alive in his role as a husband and father. He loved the Lord above all else and strived to do his will every day. He was kind of heart and generous beyond measure.

Pat was an avid Pittsburgh Steelers fan (Go Steelers!), and loved to experience nature. He was passionate about fishing and Pat's favorite place was Empress Gulch in the Black Hills National Forest. Pat was incredibly intelligent and could beat the pants off anyone in a game of Trivial Pursuit.

Grateful for sharing the true gift of Pat's life are his wife, Amy Jenson, 38, his son, Jed Daniel Jenson, 6, and his daughter, Chloe Jean Jenson, 4, all of Rapid City; his parents, Dan and Julie Jenson, Watertown; his brother, Paul (Dawn) Jenson, Castle Rock, Colo.; his grandmothers, Ellie Jenson and Zona Kunde, both of Watertown; and a large extended family. He is also very importantly survived by his sweet Golden Retriever, Herbie, and his "criminal" Beagle, Etta.

Patrick was preceded in death by his paternal and maternal grandfathers.

Visitation will be from 5 p.m. to 7 p.m. today at the Osheim & Schmidt Funeral Home.

Funeral services will be at 10:30 a.m. Friday, Jan. 7, at Westminster Presbyterian Church. Visitation will be one hour before services.

Private inurnment will be held at a later date.

His online guestbook is available to sign at www.osheimschmidt.com

Patrick and Amy were my neighbors for a few years when I lived on Robauix and they on Pluma. Patrick always tolerated my children coming to his yard to play - or at least I say that - he claimed to enjoy it. I saw him a few weeks ago and we were able to catch up a little. Amy - my heart goes out to you, your children and family. I will never forget him.

Patrick and Amy were my neighbors for a few years when I lived on Roubaix. Patrick was a great guy and always welcomed my kids over to play in his yard. He will be missed and I will never forget him. Best wishes Amy and family. Sara Dahlberg (Rapid City, NC).
