Anna Mae Weiss

1937 - 2023

Mrs. Anna Mae (Mengel) Weiss, 86, of Fleetwood, passed away, surrounded by her loving family, watching her beloved Philadelphia Phillies, on Friday, August 18, 2023 at Lehigh Valley Hospital, Salisbury Township, PA. Born July 31, 1937, in Greenwich Township, she was the daughter of the late George and Naomi (Graff) Mengel. Her husband of 40 years, Warren D. Weiss, passed away on January 19, 1999. Anna Mae worked for Kutztown University for 29 years. She served as executive assistant to President Cyrus E. Beekey, and later spent many years in the payroll department. Anna Mae was a member of Zion's Church, Windsor Castle. She spent many years volunteering at Fleetwood Fire Company with the ladies auxiliary and at the Kutztown Folk Festival. She was a member of the Virginville Grange and spent time serving on the church consistory. Anna Mae was a 1955 graduate of Kutztown Area High School, where she was secretary of her class. Most of all, she loved spending time with family and, especially, her precious grandchildren. She truly enjoyed attending all of their sporting events. Anna Mae is survived by her two children, Susan M. (Weiss) Speer, wife of Randy G. Speer, Breinigsville, and Glenn D. Weiss, husband of Sharon M. (Mohn) Weiss, Mohnton. She is also survived by her grandchildren, Serena, Clint, and his wife, Heather, Cecelia and Dale, her brother and sisters, Carl Mengel, Nancy Peters, Lee Mengel, and Linda Wanner, and by many nieces and nephews. Along with her parents and her husband, Warren, Anna Mae was preceded in death by her sisters, Jean George, and Erma Gift. Funeral Services for Anna Mae will be held on Friday, August 25, 2023 at 11:00 am at Zion's Church (Windsor Castle), 770 Zion Church Rd, Hamburg, with Rev. Randy Bond, officiating. Burial will follow in St. Paul's Union Cemetery, Fleetwood. Viewings for Anna Mae will be held on Thursday, August 24, 2023 from 6:00 to 8:00 pm at Walbert Funeral Home & Crematory, 14390 Kutztown Rd, Fleetwood, and again on Friday, August 25, 2023 from 10:00 am until time of services at the church.
