February 12, 2017 due to complications from malignant pleural mesothelioma.
Barry was born in Reading, Pa., in 1936.
He was a retired Naval Surface Warfare Center (NSWC) physicist and an adjunct physics professor for the NSWC/VPI&SU graduate
program. After retirement from NSWC, he worked at EG&G. Barry earned his B.S. from Ursinus College, and
his M.S. and Ph.D. degrees from VPI&SU.
Barry was an avid naturalist who was an expert on coleoptera and ants. He taught and curated an insect
collection for the Reading Public Museum. He was also a very knowledgeable birder.
Barry leaves behind his wife, soulmate and best friend, Ellen Brown of Fredericksburg; his mother, Lillian Bressler of Reading, Pa.; three sisters: Sandra Bressler of Wheeling, W.Va.; Linda Zuber of Wernersville, Pa.; Cheryl Kowal of Shillington, Pa.; and two brothers, Glenn Bressler of Reading, Pa., and Terry Bressler of Reading, Pa.
The family will receive friends at their Fredericksburg, Va., home on Barry's birthday, Thursday, February 16,
from 4-6 p.m.
Covenant Funeral Service, Fredericksburg, Va., is
handling the arrangements.
