Elizabeth Gattone Obituary

Elizabeth “Lisa” Gattone, 97, formerly of Reading, died Nov. 28, 2007, at 5:20 a.m. in the Hawthorne Home, Reading, where she had resided five years.

She was the widow of Domenic Gattone, who died in 1984.

Born in Ascoli Piceno, Italy, she was a daughter of the late Nazzareno and Anna (Verdoni) Negri.

She had been employed as a floor lady by Mary MacIntosh Laundry, Reading, until her retirement in 1974.

She was a member of St. Joseph’s Roman Catholic Church, Reading; and the ladies auxiliary of the St. Marco Society, Temple.

She is survived by a son, Richard F., husband of Carol Gattone, Muhlenberg Township, and a daughter-in-law, Clare A. (Giorgi) Gattone, Temple.

Other survivors include a sister, Pauline Vernetti, Muhlenberg Township.

There are also two grandsons, Gregory D. and Robert P. Gattone, both of Muhlenberg Township, and four great-grandchildren: Gregory Gattone Jr., Nikki, Jacob and Michelle Gattone.

She was predeceased by a son, Albert N. Gattone, in 1985, and a grandson, David L. Gattone, in 1993.

The funeral will begin Saturday at 9 a.m. in Milkins Funeral Home Inc., 4914 Kutztown Road, Temple, with a Mass of Christian Burial to be celebrated at 10 a.m. in St. Joseph’s Church, 1018 N. Eighth St., Reading, with the Rev. Luis Bonilla celebrant. Burial will be in Gethsemane Cemetery, Laureldale. Friends may call Friday 7 to 8:30 p.m. in the funeral home.

IN THE 40S YOU SERVED COFFEE AND CAKE AT NIGHT TO SONNY AND ME THE BOY FROM TEXAS WHO LIVED AT 1609 N 11TH STREET. I AM DONALD DETEMPLE AND I WAS SONNY'S FRIEND AS A BOY. GOD BLESS YOU AND KEEP YOU. MY MOTHER DIED IN 2000. I WILL MISS YOU TOO.
