halford Cress Obituary

Halford L. (John) Cress, 80, of Reading, passed away Wednesday, December 9th, at Berks Heim, Bern Township. Halford was born in Centerport, Iowa on April 23, 1940, a son of the late Dorothy (Cress) Meckins and Step Father William Meekins. He was the husband of Jacquelyn L. (Ertel) Cress. John worked as an over the road truck driver, for various companies, also worked for the Rose Corporation and Dutch Electric. In addition to his wife, Halford is survived by a daughter, Audrey L., wife of Steven Arms, of Mt. Penn; two sons Peter S., husband of Stephanie Cress, of Exeter; John O. Cress, of Arlington, Texas. He is also survived by 8 grandchildren: Elijah, Mason, Callan, Connor, Allyssa, Makenna, Ashley and 2 great grandchildren Annabelle and Harvey. Halford is also survived by a sister, Jacquelyn, wife of Dennis Sell. John was predeceased by a son Stephen C. on July 31, 1981. Interment private in Gethsemane Cemetery, Reading. Services are private at the convenience of family. The Sanders Funeral Home & Cremation Services Inc., 1501 North 11th Street, Reading, is in charge of the arrangements.
