William H. Bowman Jr.

William (Bill) H. Bowman, Jr., 92, formerly of Muhlenberg Township, went to be with the Lord on March 28, 2022, surrounded by his loving family. His wife, Grace M. Bowman, died on January 2, 2018. Born in Pittston, PA, he was a son of the late William H. Bowman, Sr. and Marguerite (Lawler) Bowman. He loved God, his family and his country. He was a U.S. Army veteran, having served from 1946 to 1948. He was an active member of the Faith Evangelical Congregational Church, Temple where he served as steward and on the church choir, as well as a member of the PRC and Ministries Council. Bill was a past Commander and Chaplain of American Legon Gregg Post #12. He was an avid sports fan, particularly of the Philadelphia Phillies and Eagles. Bill was a loving father, grandfather, great-grandfather and great-great-grandfather who will be missed by all who knew him. William is survived by two children, Carol A., wife of Michael Wert, Kutztown and John T., husband of Allison Bowman, Temple. Eight grandchildren: Jason Wert, Bryan T., Sabrina M., John T., Jr., and Jacob I. Bowman, Nicole M. and Timothy K. Petrowsky, and Taylor K. Haas; seven great-grandchildren: Thayer M.A. Wert, Thomas and Richard Hummel, Jeyce and Jordan Torres, Noah Rochowicz, and Braxton Haas, and one great-great-grandchild, Clayton Hummel, also survive him. A Celebration of Life will be held Saturday, April 9, 2022 at 12:00 noon at Faith Evangelical Congregational Church, 400 N Temple Blvd, Temple, PA 19560. Visitation with the family will be from 11:00 a.m. until time of service. Burial was privately held at Indiantown Gap National Cemetery.
