Barbara Schiffer

NAPLES, Fla. - Barbara Bradley Schiffer, 96, passed away at home in Naples, Fla. on Monday, Aug. 14, 2017. Barbara recently moved to Florida to be near her sons, after having lived many years in the Pocono Mountains in Pennsylvania. Barbara was the widow of Edward H. Schiffer, of Meriden, Conn., where they raised a family before moving to Allentown, Pa.

Barbara was born and lived her early life in West Haven. Barbara was very active during her youth and she was awarded the Golden Eaglet by the Girl Scouts of America. She was a graduate of Quinnipiac University. During World War II, she became a member of the Red Cross Motor Corps while working for the telephone company. While living in Meriden, Barbara served as Welcome Wagon Hostess from 1957 to 1961, when she and her family moved to Allentown, Pa. There, she worked for Manpower Temporary Help Services, eventually becoming the North East Pennsylvania Area Manager. Barbara became an avid genealogist while searching her family roots for membership in the DAR. She continued her interest as a member of the Greene-Dreher Historical Society in Pennsylvania and the Genealogical Society of Collier County.

Barbara is survived by two sons, Edward and Bradley Schiffer; Brad's wife, Amy Rodgers Schiffer; a granddaughter, Whitney Schiffer Yruela; and a great-granddaughter, Valentina Yruela, all of Florida.
