Carl H. Lohmann Sr.

MERIDEN - Carl H. Lohmann Sr., age 92, husband of the late Ruthann Lohmann, passed on Monday, Feb. 5, 2018. Born May 8, 1925, the oldest of four sons of the late Hazel (Maronde) and Herman Lohmann, of Meriden.

Carl's life was one of dedication to civic service. He received service medals from the U.S. Coast Guard in World War II. Carl worked for Napier, was a foreman at Charles Parker, was President of the Employee Credit Union for three years, and President of the Foreman's Club. He was in sales for Anderson Brush and retired from Hull Printing Company after being top salesperson every month for his entire 30-year career! Carl was a former President, VP, Treasurer, and Director of the Meriden Jaycees, and Honorary Director of the Meriden Chamber of Commerce. He served as a Shriner for 35 years, and as a Mason, and was a member of the Meriden Ski Club. Carl was on both the Memorial Hospital and Meriden Housing BODs and was active in the Republican Town Committee for many years.

He leaves his two children, Karen Coratelli-Smith and her husband, Raymond F. Smith, and Carl H. Lohmann Jr. and his wife, Kimberly Eger, all of Naples, Fla. He also leaves his youngest brother, Howard Lohmann Sr., proprietor of Logan's Steel, and his wife, Gail; his sister-in-law, Viola Lohmann; and his godson, Kevin Lohmann, along with many nieces and nephews and dear friends in Connecticut and Florida.

Family and friends are invited to attend a funeral service to be held on Monday, April 30 at 11 a.m. at the Immanuel Lutheran Church in Meriden. Following the funeral service, burial with military honors will be accorded at Sacred Heart Cemetery. There are no calling hours.
