Greta Krag Obituary

1925 - 2017
Greta Pedersen Krag passed on peacefully in her home in Shelburne, VT on August 31st at age almost-93, surrounded by family.
Born in Lynn, MA, she married Cletus Krag, M.D. there in 1945. He loved California and so they eventually moved to Stockton in 1955 with their five children. She was active in Faith Lutheran Church. She spent decades helping her husband to create and manage one of the first retirement care facilities in Stockton. When he passed on 20 years ago, Greta eventually moved to Shelburne, Vermont to receive and give support to her sons, Martin and David, that had moved there earlier.
She is survived by her children and their spouses (Ris‰, Janet & Edwards), Martin, James (& Linda), and David (& Jesusa), grandchildren (Ellen, Emily, Erik, Peter, Christopher, and Amara, great-granddaughter Claire), and numerous US and Danish cousins and their families. She was truly the matriarch of a close-knit group whose relatives emigrated from Denmark a century ago. She was the huge heart that held this now extended family together.
Always providing service to others, Greta was active with scension Lutheran Church and the Lake Champlain Waldorf School in Shelburne. She deeply enjoyed the connections made related to cancer research. Throughout her long life she affected many through her acts of kindness through her church, the local Newcomers, and Red Hat groups. She was also a strong advocate for kindness, appreciation, and generosity. She lived her faith, practiced Transcendental Meditation twice daily and encouraged us to love each other, enjoy life, and give to our communities.
Well-wishers attended her memorial Sunday, September 17, 11:30 at Ascension Lutheran Church in S. Burlington. Any communication may be sent to Jim Krag, JL030373@gmail.com or 1618 Miller School Rd, Charlottesville, Virginia 22903.
