Jane Marion (Jacklich) Lewis died on June 3, 2018, in Manteca, CA. She was born on July 7, 1942, in Oakland, CA. In 1943, she moved with her family to Manteca, where she lived for the past 74 years. Mrs. Lewis is preceded in death by her husband, Joaquin "Jack" Lewis; her father, Frank Carl Jacklich; her mother, Bianca (Mariani) Jacklich; her brother, Frank C. Jacklich, Jr.; and her sister, Joanne B. Sanchez. She is survived by her sister, Victoria Camara (John), of Manteca; her son, Jack Lewis, II (Paula), of Ripon; her daughter, Jennifer Nunes (Art), of Manteca; her son, James Lewis (Nancy), of Ripon; her grandchildren, Joaquin "Josh" Lewis (Shania Franscella, fiancé) and Emily Lewis; Austen Nunes, Jordan Nunes, and Jace Nunes; Madisen Lewis and Nic Lewis; and great grandchildren, Joaquin "Mason" Lewis, IV, and Sienna Jones.

Jane attended the original Veritas Grammar School located on Veritas Road. She graduated from Manteca High School in 1960. She was involved in various clubs and activities and was elected Varsity Football Queen in 1959. She received a bachelor's degree from the University of San Francisco. She held a Real Estate Broker's License, was past president of the Nile Garden Elementary School Community Club, a horse leader for the Nile Garden 4-H Club, a member of the Manteca High School Sports Boosters, and the Central Catholic High School Football Booster Club. She was a member of the California Federation of Republican Women, the San Joaquin County Farm Bureau, the Italian Catholic Federation, the Forest Landowners of California, the Manteca Historical Society, and a contributor to M.R.P.S., F.E.S.M., I.C.F., the Manteca Boys and Girls Club, and Saint Anthony's Catholic Church where she attended Mass regularly, volunteered as a catechism teacher, and participated in fundraising. She was a devout Catholic and continued to watch Catholic Mass at home on television even after she could no longer attend church services.

Jane married the love of her life, Jack Lewis, in 1960, and they shared 54 years of marriage together until Jack died in 2014. For 33 years, they co-owned and operated LewisTile Company, Inc., a ceramic tile business in Manteca. When they were not working, Jack and Jane enjoyed travel, including trips abroad to Paris and Rome, domestic trips to national parks, museums, theater productions, the Super Bowl, the Kentucky Derby, UOP Basketball games, and watching sporting events and other activities engaged in by their children and grandchildren.

The historic Lewis home, built in 1918, was renovated, expanded, and improved by Jack and Jane over the years. It is not only considered to be a local landmark, but it was the site of hundreds of planned (and unplanned) parties attended by friends and family members who knew that they were always welcome to stop by at any time with or without an invitation to enjoy a drink or a meal. Jane was proud of her home, which she kept immaculately clean at all times, and where everything in it had special meaning and personal significance. It is there where she died, peacefully in bed, after a difficult battle with ovarian cancer.

The Lewis family would like to thank the doctors, nurses, and staff of Doctors Hospital in Manteca for their excellent care for the two weeks that our mother spent in the hospital trying to regain her health shortly before her death, and the employees of Optimal Hospice Care of Stockton and Comfort Keepers of Tracy who helped us make her comfortable during her final days.

Fry & Son Chapel, 290 N. Union Road, Manteca, CA. Mass will be held on Wednesday, June 13, 2018, at 11:00 a.m. at Saint Anthony's Catholic Church CA. She will be laid to rest with her beloved husband at Saint John's Catholic Cemetery, 17871 South Carrolton Road, Escalon, CA. In lieu of gifts or flowers, donations in memory of Jane may be made to Manteca High School, Central Catholic High School, Saint Anthony's Catholic Church, or the hospice agency of your choice.
