John Henry Kurtz

Mr. John Henry Kurtz of Port Jervis, NY, a lifetime resident of the area, passed away on Monday, January 26, 2009, at home. He was 74.

He was born February 12, 1934 in Port Jervis, NY, the son of the late Edward C. and the late Antoinette Andriack Kurtz. He was married to Ruth Harford Kurtz for 45 years.

He was employed as a cutter for Barbara Quilting in Port Jervis for 35 years. He then was a material handler for Summit Research until his retirement. He proudly served in the U.S. Army during the Korean War.

Surviving are his loving wife, Ruth Kurtz, at home; three daughters: Jacqueline Joslin and her husband, Dan of Upstate, NY, Allison Prietz of Port Jervis, and Valerie Morgan and her husband, John of Port Jervis; one brother, James Kurtz of Anneville, PA; one sister, Ann Marie Arciero and her husband, Joseph of Middletown; 11 grandchildren: Kalan and his wife, Kathleen, Ashley and her fiance, Nate, Alese, Daniele, Jeremiah, Naomi, Riona, Malcolm, Leah, Steven, and Michael; four great-grandchildren: Lonnie, Abi, Micah and Lucius. He was predeceased by six sisters and five brothers.

Friends may call at the Gray-Parker Funeral Home, Inc., 100 E. Main St., Port Jervis, NY, on Friday, January 30, from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. Funeral services will follow at 1 p.m., Friday, at the funeral home. Cremation will be at H.G. Smith Crematory, Stroudsburg, PA. Burial with Military Honors will be in St. Mary's Cemetery, Port Jervis, NY.
