Joseph Musumeci Obituary
Joseph R. Musumeci Sr., a longtime resident of Chester, died on Thursday, October 8, 2009 at home. He was 84.
Joe was born on May 7, 1925 in Chester, NY, the youngest child of Giovanni "John" and Orazia "Grace" Patane Musumeci.
He was a retired driver and dispatcher for AW Hollenbeck and worked for many years for both Conger Memorial Funeral Home in Chester and Ralston-Lippincott-Hasbrouck-Ingrassia Funeral Home, Inc. in Chester and Goshen. Joe was also an accomplished musician who drummed for many polka bands in the area. "Mr. Mush" was also one of the best loved managers in Chester Little League, he also managed the Chester All-Stars to win the District 19 Championship in 1971.
He is survived by his loving companion, caregiver and mother of his six children: Marion Masker Musumeci, at home, as well as his children, "The 6 J's": Joyce of Chester, John and his wife, Patricia of Goshen, Joseph Jr. of Middletown, Joette and her husband, Steven of Ellenville, Jeffrey and his wife, Jennifer of Goshen, and Joliene and her husband, Andrew of Sugar Hill, GA; as well as his sister, Mary Garbitelli of Arizona; and many nieces and nephews.
He was a proud and loving Pop-Pop to his 13 grandchildren: Andrew Joseph, David, Zachary and Nicole Catherine, Samantha, Alex and Nicole Marie, Michelle and Meaghan, Victoria and Joseph III, Christopher and Michael; and great-granddaughter, Talulah.
Joe was predeceased by his brothers, Alfred and Rosario and sister, Angelina.
Visitation will be Saturday, October 10, from 7-9 p.m. and Sunday, October 11, from 2-4 and 7-9 p.m. at the Lippincott Funeral Home, Inc., 92 Main St., Chester.
A Funeral Mass will be celebrated at 10 a.m. on Monday, October 12, at St. Columba Church in Chester followed by burial in St. Columba Cemetery, Chester.
In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to Hospice of Orange & Sullivan Counties, Inc., 800 Stony Brook Court, Newburgh, NY 12550.

To the Musumeci Family, There are no words for this kind of loss. I have nothing but the best memories of "Mr. Mush". He always took the time to say hello, to see how we were doing, put an arm around our shoulder and a give us a pat on the back. I actually remember the Little League days as I'm sure my brothers do.
