William Bullock Obituary

William Floyd Bullock Sr., 79, passed away after a long illness on Saturday, Jan. 21, 2017, in Greenville at the home of his son, Greg Bullock. He was surrounded by loving family members.
Floyd was born on May 25, 1937, in the Carolina Township area of Pitt County, near Tranters Creek and Bear Grass, close to the Martin County line, to parents, Ernest Oswald Bullock and Julia Elizabeth Warren Bullock. He grew up in this same community, where his ancestors had been farmers, blacksmiths and tradesmen for more than 140 years. He graduated from Stokes-Pactolus High School in 1955. While attending school his graduating year, he met his future wife whom he married two years later. Floyd enlisted in the army in 1959 and served two years active and two years reserve duty. Upon returning home, he worked for 25 years at Ormond Wholesale Company, where, for many years, he was manager of their cash self-service division. He was then employed for the next 11 years at Agri-Supply of Greenville, where he served three years as branch manager. Upon retirement, Floyd relocated to Atkinson to be near and spend more time with "Trey," his young grandson.
Floyd is survived by former wife, Evelyn Jones Bullock-Streeper; their two sons, William Floyd Bullock Jr. and wife Jane of Ivanhoe, and Gregory Christopher Bullock and wife Linda of Greenville; and grandchildren, William Floyd Bullock III (Trey), Max Riley and Madison Vinciguerra, Patrick Butts, and Amy Butts Strickland; two sisters, Mildred Mizelle and Evelyn Harrison; three nephews, Robert, Jeffrey and Ashley; and six nieces, Vicky, Kathy, Debra, Jo-Ann, Angie, and Stephanie. Predeceased are his parents; and sister, Beulah Elizabeth Carson.
Floyd, who lovingly was called "Pop" by family and friends, was a devoted family man and loyal friend. He lovingly cared for his parents, providing a home and keeping them close in their later years. In life, he was always there, thinking and giving, putting family first. He enjoyed music, auto mechanics and restoration, construction projects, gardening, and spending time with family and friends. His loving, supportive, steady character and his hard-working common-sense lifestyle taught his family that with self-reliance and determination all things are possible.
No visitation or public services will be held. His memorial marker is located in the Ayden Cemetery. Condolences may be sent to The Bullock Family, 105 Fort Sumter Drive, Greenville, NC 27858 or online at www.wilkersonfuneralhome.com.
