To Mrs. Betty Green and the Green Family, on behalf of the entire Barnett family, we send our deepest condolences, love and prayers. We all loved Reverend Green as a part of our family. He was a spiritual father to me and my siblings, as he would call me one of his daughters. I was very honored. I sat with him by his bedside only two weeks ago and we talked for hours. He loved you and his children very much, as he talked about how the two of you met and married. You and Reverend Green will always hold a special place in my heart. He was a wonderful man of God and would always gave me guidance. I would call him often just to talk and he was always there. Thank you for sharing him with us, and for being his Sweetheart for so many years and forever. It truly was a blessing for me to have attended Galilean Baptist Church as a child and to know him for 36 years without ceasing. May God comfort you and your children always. With much love and prayers always. To the Green Children, and Grandchildren, please know that God will get you through this and give you strength. Always cherish and carry the memory of your Father and Grandfather in your hearts. He was a great and wonderful man of God and loved each of you very much!

Dear Mrs. Green,
We want to thank you for sharing Rev. Green with Flint firefighters for so many year's. From gathering personal strength from him when our hearts were abnormally heavy, giving a quick-witted joke to lighten our spirit's or attending one of our many functions offering a blessing, Reverend Green was always there for us.

I recall that I personally received encouragment from Rev. Green after recovering a 2 year old boy from the Flint River. I was extremelly upset but once Rev. Green arrived, I somehow regained my composure and his healing words inspired me to press on.

There are many stories from many firefighters and police officers from Flint similiar to mine. His spirit will be alive in so many of us as we continue our careers. God truly has one of his earthly angel's with him now!

With all of my respect and honor on behalf of the Flint Firefighters Union and its current and past member's,
Rico L. Phillips

I will truly miss my "father". At his retirement celebration, I stood and I expressed how special he and Mrs. Green have been to me throughout my life. Some of my fondest memories are of times, I have spent with Rev. Green. When I was really young, he let me come to his house and we'd sit on his porch and make whistle horns out of tree branches and talk. He helped me pick my first car and taught me how to drive a stick shift and came to Detroit to perform my wedding ceremony 14 years ago. I remember calling him from college to talk about what it meant to speak in tongues. I thought he had explained it sufficiently but shortly thereafter, I received a gigantic concordance study bible in the mail. That's just how he was. He sacrificied much to walk in the will of God. He was a man who always put God first and had many funny stories to tell and touched the lives of so many with his kindness and his genuine love for all people. He was an excellent leader of his flock. There are few that can compare to the Man of God that he was. He wasn't perfect but he lived his life according the the word of God no matter who he was with or where he was - be it work, home, church, the fire or police station or wherever. He would laugh when people stared at us because he was white and I was black. He was courageous. He loved when I sang the song "I found Everything I need in the Lord" because he believed that with all his heart. His favorite song was "Because he lives" and he lived his life like he believed He lives.. Even though the years have past and gone, he never forgot my voice when I called and he'd still call me ever so often to make sure my husband was still "treatin' me right"... He was a gem of a pastor, father and friend to me and I will miss him so very much. My prayers are with Mrs. Green and the entire Green family, the Galilean Church family and Flint community as we all mourn this great loss.

TERRANCE HICKS AND FAMILY.

Rev. Green was a true friend to all the Flint firefighters. He was always there when we needed him. The impact he had on my life will always have a special place in my heart. There will never be anyone like the Rev. I'll always remember the guys saying knock it off, here comes the Rev. And of course, he always had a bucket full of day old donuts for us. He was there for my retirement party at Station #3 firehouse, I felt so very honered. Thank You for watching over us and praying for us when we needed it. Our hearts are heavy and our prayers are with Betty and the family. Retired Batt, Chief, Dick Davis and Family

Forty years ago Denzil and you Betty became instrumental in my life and my family. No greater dream or inspiration will ever match the experience of coming to Christ and being a part of a dream, that is to see Industrial Chaplaincy come to birth through the Divine guidance of Christ through a handful of people. God Bless you Betty during the joys and sorrows of this time.

The man that wrote the vision then worked it through his wife, children, and 3 generations more. My grandfather the man that told me stories repeatedly about that "Old Snake" to make sure I stay saved! various others to keep me saved. Your loving granddaughter that picked up those heavy hamburgers from the coney island place. I miss you already. Because you lived I can face tomorrow, because you lived all fear is gone, because I know who holds my future and life is worth the living just because you live..!!!!
