Larry Mason, 81, of Abilene, passed away Saturday, April 1, 2017. A funeral service will be 11:00 AM, Wednesday, April 5, 2017 at Wylie United Methodist Church, 3430 Antilley Rd. Interment will follow the service in Elmwood Memorial Park, 5750 Hwy 277 South.
Larry was born on September 6, 1935 to William and Grace Mason. He graduated Odessa High School in 1954. He attended Odessa College earning a degree in Instrumentation. Larry served in the US Army from 1959 to 1962. He enjoyed golf, traveling, grilling, and watching westerns. He also enjoyed high school, college and NFL football especially the Dallas Cowboys. Above all things he loved his kids, grandkids and many friends.
He was preceded in death by his parents, William Frederick and Grace Franklin Mason; and his brother, Kenneth Mason.
He is survived by his wife, Loneta Mason; his son, Geordie Mason and wife Karen of Franklin, Tennessee; grandsons, Morgan and Connor Mason; granddaughter, Kennah Hineman and husband Keaton of Conroe, Texas; his daughter, Mandy Rhodes and husband Don of Odessa, Texas; grandson, Dustin Rhodes and wife Cyndi of Lubbock, Texas; Stepdaughter, Karra Dawn Patten and husband Jonathan of Stamford, Texas; granddaughters, Tanna Burfiend and husband Michael of Stamford, Texas and Amanda Gomez of Sweetwater, Texas; great-grandchildren, Kimberlyn, Ethan, Matthew, Chirstian and Averie; stepson, Kenneth Dale Patterson of Abilene, Texas; sister, Vesta Mason Ellis of Plano, Texas; and nieces, Dana Ogden and husband Ray of Plano, Texas and Roni Sturdivant and husband Gerald of Lubbock, Texas.
In lieu of flowers the family suggest memorial donations in Larry's honor to go to Wylie United Methodist Church, 3430 Antilley Rd.
