Leslie Singleton Obituary

Leslie Stephen Singleton

Anchorage, AK

Senior Airman Leslie Stephen Singleton, 21, passed away on 06/04/2017 in Anchorage, AK.

Stephen was born May 15, 1996 at the Chandler Regional Hospital in Chandler, AZ. He lived most of his life in the Phoenix metro area, with dozens of trips to Coleman, TX and other Texas locations to visit family throughout his first 18 years of life. The one thing that virtually everyone agrees upon about Stephen is that he was a selfless, caring person, always worried about the feelings of others and always seeking to make their life easier with his efforts. He was also the best hugger.

Stephen is survived by his father and mother, Larry Singleton, Arlington and Tracy Singleton, Tye; his sister, A'Lexie Madison Singleton, Arlington; maternal grandmother, Teresa Emerson, Tye; the following list of aunts and uncles: Amy and Thomas Doherty, Clyde/Eula; Doug and Shelly Busby, Tye; Amber and Cody Cottingham, Tye; Michelle and Cody McGuire, Austin; Chris and Kate Buecker, Austin. Numerous other cousins and extended family, all of whom loved him very much.

Visitation and services for Stephen are set as follows: This Sunday from 10:00AM to 12:00PM will be visitation and viewing, followed by the funeral service (including full military honors ceremony) at 2:00PM, Sunday. The address is Elliott-Hamil Funeral Home, 5701 Hwy 277 South, Abilene, TX 79606. All family and friends are welcome as we celebrate the life and grieve the passing of this amazing young man.

In lieu of flowers, for those who wish, the family has identified a charity to which donations can be made: https://activeheroes.org/

My sincerest condolences to SrA Singleton's Family. I was the Section chief when Stephen was coming to Alaska. I had a choice to pick which Airman was coming to my shop out of like 10, I noticed that Stephen was born on 15 May 1996 the same day that I walked into Basic Training, so I knew that I had to have him in my section. When he got here I told him why I selected him, and he asked if he got special attention...I told him of course you can do no wrong our birthday's are the same...we laughed at it, however over the time that he spent here with us, he would bring up that story to anybody, and so would I. He was a remarkable young man, always willing to help out, never ceased to ask questions, because he wanted to know why, how, or what for...ultimately it was to make him a smarter young man, and Airman. I am blessed to have had spent time with your son, and I will always remember him for several reasons especially his witty comments and his birthday.

RIP Stephen. You and your family will be in my prayers every night. I never got to meet you in person but I knew you and the precious young man you turned out to be from all the wonderful stories your Mom would tell me. Her face would light up whenever she talked about you. RIP Stephen.
