Sybil Morris, 100, formerly of Abilene, passed away Monday, October 14, 2013 in Frisco, Texas. Services are scheduled for 10:00 a.m. Friday in North's Memorial Chapel with Dr. Herb Wood officiating. Burial will follow in Elmwood Memorial Park, under the direction of North's Funeral Home. The family will receive friends from 5 - 7:00 p.m. Thursday in North's Memorial Chapel, 242 Orange St.

Ms. Morris was born October 28, 1912 in Hopkins County, Texas to Harrison and Effie (Johnson) Attaway. Sybil married Bill Morris on December 25, 1928 in Winters, Texas. They moved to Abilene in 1931. She worked for Ben E. Keith as a bookkeeper from 1962 - 1977. She was a member of the Crescent Heights Baptist Church. At the age of 80, she completed her GED. When asked "why she did it" she simply responded by saying "just to prove that I could do it". She loved to crochet and won First place at the Taylor County Fair for her crocheted bedspread. She also enjoyed quilting.

She was preceded in death by her parents, husband and four sisters.

She is survived by her son William Morris and wife Marjetta of Garland, Texas. One granddaughter, Melissa Kelly and husband Aaron of Mabank, Texas as well as several nieces and nephews.
