BJORLIN

January 22, 1950 - January 9, 2009

Mark was an extraordinary man, a wonderful, devoted son, father, brother, uncle and friend. He was a funny little boy who was and became, the John Wayne of our family and who always stuck by his guns. Midmorning January 9, 2009, at his home, he let go in the loving, gentle embrace of his daughter and moved on peacefully.

Mark was born in Minneapolis, MN to Bud and Helen Bjorlin. In 1956 the Bjorlins relocated to Reno where Mark attended Hunter Lake, Central Jr. High and graduated from Reno High in 1968. He went on to the University of Nevada where he boxed for two years under coach Jimmy Olivas.

Mark worked in gaming at the Palace Club as a cashier and at the Sands as the credit manager. In December 1988, he opened the Easy Mark Saloon with partner and friend, Jerry LaCroix and later the Gateway Lounge. He loved the Oregon coast and hunting and fishing at Rye Patch, Wildhorse, Willow Creek and Wilson.

Mark's mother, Helen, passed away just three short weeks before him. He is survived by his father, Bud; daughter, April; new grandson, Kyle; brother, Dave (Sharon); sister, Susie; nephew, Mark; nieces, Amy and Hanna and countless friends. If you loved him, liked him or just enjoyed his great sense of humor, please join us at Mountain View, 425 Stoker (next to Mi Casa Too), on Saturday, January 24 at 2 p.m. A celebration of Mark‘s life will follow at the Gateway Lounge (next to Starlite Bowl). Join us, pards.

Iam truly sorry about the loss of your father. I know that losing your father and especially when you are very close with, is very hard. Although your life will never be the same, you can take this experience as something learned. His memories will always be in your thoughts and sometimes his memories are so vivid you think that they are real. April, I know that their is nothing anyone can say to make things right but If you ever need to talk, I as well as countless others, are here for you.

What a shock to read about Mark, the Reno community and world will truly miss a great friend.

Mark and I worked together many years ago at Weinstock's and spent many an evening at the Straw Hat Pizza Parlor over at Shoppers Square having great times and sharing interesting stories about ourselves and experiences.

Over the years we would occasionally bump into each other and it was just as if it were only yesterday when speaking with him, he was always kind, considerate and concerned.

I will remember him as a protector and gentleman, he was always beside you as a friend.

Thanks Mark for sharing a part of your life. God Bless you and your family.

Bud, Dave, Sue and the rest of the Bjorlin family. For many years while we were growing up you guys know you were like my second family. Although I have not stayed in touch with Mark over the years as much as I would have liked to, I will never forget the good times we had together. April you are in our thoughts and prayers and if there is anything we can do to help during these sad times, please feel free to get in touch. May he rest in peace and May God Bless.

My sincere sympathy to all of the Bjorlin family. Mark was a one of a kind man. He and my Father, Dick Cantrell, were the best of buddies and had so much fun together. Oh, if the walls could talk! I have so many wonderful memories of the two of them together. Rest in peace my friend.
