Dear Phyllis and Family,

I am so sorry to hear of Dick's passing. Joan and
I are in CA at the moment and received a phone call
from a friend in Fernley telling about the obituary in
the paper. I consider Dick as being a very special
friend for many years, especially recalling our days
working at the Senior Center. Phyllis, our thoughts
are with you and the children and great and grand
children. Our love,
Bill Bevan and Joan Fincher-Bevan

I worked with Dick at the Fernley Senior Center, where post law enforcement retirement he drove the senior van. He was kind and considerate of his fragile passengers and had a great sense of humor too. He used to call me Tammy Faye just to rile me up. Always made me smile. My sincere condolences to Phyllis and family.

When I was with the Fernley-Leader newspaper my office was next door to the Fernley Taxi, I will always have fantastic memories about my visits with Dick. He always had good-down-home opinions about things in the world and of Fernley. He was truly a wonderful man. Hugs and prayers to Phyllis, Julie and Tara and the rest of the family.

I'll always cherish the visits we had, usually at my office, and will never forget the wild hair-raising ride he gave me when he screeched to a halt outside my house, threw my emergency kit into his car and we tore off to the scene of a child with a gunshot wound, flying through a construction zone on the overpass, barely missing the flagperson, turning the corner onto the street on 2 wheels (I was certain), and getting us there, much to my relief. He was cool and in control, while I was having a heart attack! I still have the special jug of rum he and Phyllis brought for me from their visit to St. John Island, a sweet, thoughtful gift. Dick was one of kind, a professional, caring, funny man who gave great service as a trooper always with a smile. Eternal rest grant unto him O Lord and let perpetual light shine upon him. May his soul rest in peace and may his loving family and friends be comforted.

I worked with Dick for 11 years and was friends with him for many more. He was a wonderful man, caring, funny and always treated me with respect and he will be very missed. I knew him before and after he married Phyliss and he was very happy with her. I wish I could have seen him in later years but distance made that impossible. RIP Dick, you leave a big gap in the world.

The last conversation we had, he told me how grateful he was for his family. He made sure I knew how much he loves Phyllis. I think finding love later in life gave them an appreciation for all they experienced. He definitely was a big part in so many lives. Willie and I will keep you in our prayers.

One of the best Troopers Fernley had. Set an example for all the troopers and officers. Great person. Will miss his smile and kind words. Hugs Phyllis, Mike, Tom, Tara and Julie.. Love you
