Jesse Gill Obituary

Jesse Lee Gill, 75, of Roanoke, passed away on Saturday, April 12, 2008. A member of Valley View Wesleyan Church, Mr. Gill is remembered for never giving up during his long battle with Muscular Dystrophy. A dedicated employee, Mr. Gill worked at Pet Dairy for over 20 years lastly as a milk route salesman even through the pain of his Muscular Dystrophy. Mr. Gill proudly served his country in the Army Transportation Division, Fort Eustis, Va., from May 8, 1953 to May 6, 1955. He is preceded in death by his father and mother, Burl and Mary Frances Gill; sisters, Georgia Beck Gill, Peggy Sue Lufsey, Lois Rachel Gill and Carol Faye Duncan; and a brother, Wayne Gill. He is survived by his children, Robin Milliner, Edward "Eddie" Gill, and Fred "Freddie" Gill and his wife, Sandra (Sandy); grandchildren, Kimberley Postles and husband, Bradford (Brad), Christopher "Chris," Erin and Breanna Gill, Jessica Gill and fiancé, Willy, and Ashley Gill; and two greatgrandchildren, Bradford "Trey" and Kalynn Postles. He is also survived by his brothers, Gerald, Donald, Lonnie, Robert and Irvin Gill; his sisters, Mary Ann Wade and Martha Hall; very best friend, Lois Gill; special friend, J.R. Sink; special cousin, Bob Adams; and numerous friends and other relatives. Eddie and Robin would like to thank Sandra (Sandy) Gill for her love and special care for Jesse (Dad) during his life, we know it made his life special. Funeral services will be held at Oakey's North Chapel at 12 noon Wednesday, April 16, 2008, with the Rev. Arthur Good officiating. Interment will follow in Blue Ridge Memorial Gardens. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to the Muscular Dystrophy Association, 4502 Starkey Road, Suite 107, Roanoke, Va. 24014. The family will receive friends from 2 to 4 p.m. and 6 to 8 p.m. on Tuesday, April 15, 2008, at Oakey's North Chapel, 540-362-1237.
