Sandra "Sandy" Peters, of Pearisburg, Va., passed away on Sunday, May 21, 2023. Sandy was born in Pearisburg, Va. December 27, 1946 to the late Kathleen Ratcliff Ballard and William Howard Ballard. Sandy graduated from Giles High school and Radford college and also attended Ferrum college. She was a claims adjuster at Nationwide Insurance in Lynchburg where she resided for 32 years until she moved to Pearisburg where she was an avid member of First United Methodist church. She was head of Prime timers, snack lady for take two, head of bereavement dinners and the prayer warriors Bible study. She was very active in providing care and help to the Pearisburg community.
Left to cherish her memory are her children, Jeff Peters, Bryan Peters and Holly Mays; grandchildren, Chloe, Carsen, Carter, Emma and Hannah Peters; and one adorable great granddaughter named Wrenleigh; one sister, MaryAnn Graham (Richard); special cousins, Rhonda Reynolds (Billy) Linda Schmitt (Jeff) and Linda Candeleri (Bob); and a number of special friends. Besides her parents, she was also preceded by her son-in-law, Mike Mays and special cousin, Barbara Stafford.
In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to First United Methodist church of Pearisburg, Va. Visitation will be Wednesday, May 24, 2023 from 5 to 7 p.m. and a Celebration of Sandy's life will be held Thursday, May 25, 2023 at 2 p.m. Both visitation and service will be held at First United Methodist church. The family would like to thank all of the ICCU staff and doctors of Carillion Roanoke Memorial Hospital who provided excellent care for Sandy!
