Alvin Stone Obituary

WHITEHALL, N.Y. - Alvin "Stoney" David Stone, 83, died Saturday, June 8, 2013, at his home.

He was born in Brandon, Vt., the son of Alson David and Sadie Wescott Stone.

He was an avid gardener and cook. He was also a strong supporter of the Boston Red Sox and enjoyed NASCAR.

Survivors include his wife, Kate (Nutting Barker) Stone; his five children, Carolyn Stone of Scotia, Pamela Walters of Norfolk, Va., Alex Stone of Lacey, Wash., Byron Stone of Fairlee, Vt., and Gary Stone of Dania, Fla.; two stepchildren that he helped to raise, Fred Barker of Dresden, and Rose Barker Jerome of Whitehall; three grandchildren and eight great­-grandchildren; three siblings, Maleita Cram of Brandon, Vt., Birdie Pitts of Rutland, and Eugene Stone of Newton Grove, N.C.; and a half­ brother, David Stone of Brandon, Vt.

There will be no funeral, but a memorial service will be held in September.

In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations to either the American Cancer Society, 959 State Rte. 9, Mount Royal Plaza, Queensbury, NY 12804; or the National Kidney Foundation, 30 East 33rd Street, New York, NY 10016.

Arrangements are under the direction of the Michael G. Angiolillo Funeral Home, 210 Broadway, Whitehall, N.Y.
