Hiram Green Obituary
He was born in Cambridge, N.Y., the son of Catherine (Riley) and James Green Sr.
He was a World War II Army veteran who served in Japan and the Philippines.
In earlier years, Mr. Green worked at Vermont Tissue Paper Co. and later, at H.T. Cushman Co. for many years until his retirement.
He was an avid woodworker, enjoyed working around his home, was known for his talent as a cartoonist and declining an employment offer from Norman Rockwell.
Survivors include his wife of 65 years, Mary Kinney Green, and numerous nieces and nephews.
He was predeceased by his siblings, James Jr., Francis Joseph, Theodore, Charles, Irene and Katherine Green, Margarita Valentine and Josephine King.
The funeral will be held at 10 a.m. Wednesday, May 14, at St. John the Baptist Catholic Church in North Bennington.
There will be no calling hours.
Burial will take place Thursday, May 15, in Gerald B.H. Solomon Saratoga National Cemetery in Schuylerville, N.Y.
Memorial contributions may be made to Vermont Veterans Home Members Assistance Fund, in care of Mahar & Son Funeral Home, 628 Main St., Bennington, VT 05201.
