I am absolutely devastated to hear of Cindy's death. I only knew her for one short year but it was an intense year as I was her English teacher her senior year at Esparto High School. Cindy was one of my best students at Esparto (incredibly bright, extremely talented, and a hard, hard worker) and one of my all time favorite students (always cheerful, always polite and sweet, and just an all around nice human being) in my 34 years of teaching at the junior high school, high school, and university levels. It was a true honor to have taught her during and to have gotten to know her. I know it's a cliche, but I truly thought that her inner beauty seemed to match her incredible outer beauty. My heart goes out to her family and all of her friends.

I'm deeply saddened to hear of Cindy's passing. We were childhood friends and classmates from Mrs. Bolton's kindegarten class through our sophomore year at Esparto High School, after which my family moved away and we lost touch. From our earliest days Cindy was a star, a standout amongst us academically and by every other measure. Somehow her gifts didn't invite resentment from her classmates; everyone counted her as a friend. Throughout all our school years together I knew Cindy to be an exceptional, beautiful girl, full of fun, wit, humor, kindness, talent, and promise, and I will forever remember her this way. My deepest condolences to her mother, Fritz, Heidi, and Susan, and all of her friends...you are in my thoughts and prayers. May she rest in peace.

Very sad to hear of Cindy's passing. I knew her for only a short period during my time as an exchange student in the late 1970's. She was always great fun to be around and I retain some very special memories of that time. My thoughts are very much with the Durst family at this most difficult time.

The Dursts were my parents best friends and our close neighbor. Cindy was great person. My heart goes to her Mom Jean and Fritz, Suzie and Heidi....They are wonderful people and a great family…this is a loss for all of us.

As a South African exchange student working for the Doherty's and on occasions for the Durst family in the late 70s, my memory of Cindy was a bubbly, self confident and an oustandingly lovely person. my heartfelt condolences to the Durst family during these sad times

Totally stunned to hear of Cindy's passing. I went to school with her until l had to move after my sophomore year. I remember playing every sport we had plus 4H. I feel terrible that l haven't been in contact with my Esparto classmates and hope that l am invited to the next reunion. As we just experienced how life is just too short. My prayers go to Cindy's family and friends.

It was a privilege to had been one of Cindy's friends. Growing up in a small town has a way of creating so many friendships and childhood memories. Cindy was a very special person, she always had a big smile and enjoyed life.

I will always remember Cindy's beautiful smile and how she always treated everyone in high school fairly. I saw her only at our high school reunions, but it was always a pleasure to be around her. As I think of my second cousin Cindy, I have many terrific memories; learning to cook and sew in 4-H, feeding baby lambs, playing basketball and volleyball together, Durst Family picnics and Thanksgivings, and all those days riding the school bus to town and back! Most of all I remember how welcoming Cindy was when I joined her third grade class mid-year after my family moved from Woodland. She will always hold a special place in my heart. I will always remember Cindy and her beautiful smile. She will always be remembered when I think of our journey from kindergarten through high school graduation. She was a good friend to so many and I will always remember the "tuna boat" and chinese fire drills. This is such sad news at the loss of Cindy. She was a childhood friend. Knowing her all of my childhood I know she could only have great things in her future. That future has been cut to short. I am so sorry about Cindy's passing and my heart goes out to all of the family. I met Cindy when my family relocated to Hungry Hollow from Orange County and Cindy and I became best friends!! Sadly we lost touch when I left for college and she had another year in high school...but the wonderful high school memories will never fade! I spent some time looking thru our yearbooks last week and boy did we have some fun!

I am very sad to hear of Cindy's passing. I will always remember her willingness to help with whatever task was at hand, reminding us of computer backups or loading new complicated software. She was always there when we called from the county office. All I can say is that by her toil she sure gave back more to the world than what she ever took from it.

I remember Cindy through her work with Farm Service Agency. I especially enjoyed seeing and listening to her at state training conferences. She was pleasant and energetic and a kick to listen to. I grew up with her Durst girl cousins in Grimes. I am very sad to hear of her passing.
