I love you so much Grandma. I always feel you around hugging me whenever things feel off. I know your watching. I wished I could of been around more. I always will remember how you've always told me I was special. You've always reminded me that gods love is so strong, with him I can overcome anything. I miss you so so much. RIP xoxo love you always. Your grandbaby christina.

Although I was not a passenger or close friend of Gertie, I met her a few times over the years through another one of the school bus drivers at SJUSD. Then, one day when I was in college, I stepped out the front door to get in my car to drive to ARC and there she was turning that mini bus around on my cul-de-sac to go pick one up one of the kids in the condos down the street from me. She stopped and said hello and asked me how school was going. I told her I had a big test that day. She told me she would pray for me. I never forgot that. Rest in peace, Gertie Duncan. I will see you in heaven.

I am so glad we reconnected after not seeing each other for several years. I have such great memories of going to your house for holidays and all the good food you made. And you always thinking we did not eat enough! I will miss you.

Dear Aunt Gertie,
I'll always remember you cooking, sewing, trying to get Dee to eat more than just cereal and always having Fritos when I was little.
I also remember you telling me one morning that it was icy outside and to wear the boots you had. Me being stubborn, I didn't want to wear them. First step out the front door I landed on my butt! I should've listened to you Aunt Gertie!
I loved listening to your accent and always asked you to say things over. You thought I was teasing you, but I wasn't! I loved listening to you talk.
So glad we got together again after so long. I'm really gonna miss you at our lunches! I won't get to hear you talk anymore. I won't get your hugs either. But I know you were never really happy after losing Uncle Jack. So I'll just think about that instead of being so sad.
I love you Aunt Gertie!

Aunt Gertie, you were an amazing, loving and caring woman with whom I loved spending time with. You have given me so many memories that I will keep with me forever. You are the perfect example of a Christian and Jesus has taken you home. You are now at peace. I love you!
