Sacramento, California - Harriett Barbara Jones passed peacefully on Sunday, December 31, 2023, at University of California San Francisco Medical Center at Mission Bay Hospital from uterine cancer at 63 years old. She was born on January 6, 1960, in Washington, D.C. to Antonelle Marie Gresham and Harold Lee Jones. Harriett completed her bachelor's degree in Geography specializing in Geographic Information Systems at California State University at Sacramento in May 2004 and completed post graduate studies in Public Administration towards her Masters in May 2005. She worked for the County of Sacramento for over 25 years and worked for the Department of Building Inspection and retired from the Department of Child Support. Family was everything to Harriett and she devoted over 15 years of her life studying her family's genealogy. She has 6 sisters, and two brothers and Harriett was predeceased by three of her older sisters, Annie Collier Jenkins, Helen "Cherie" Collier Sloan, and Carol Kiarra Jones Horn. Harriett leaves five siblings to mourn her memory. She is survived by her oldest brother Stephen (wife Della) Harris, older sister Pat Sherard, brother Harold (wife Elvita) Jones, Linda Jones, and Cynthia Jones (Gresham). She leaves nine nieces and nephews, Mechelle Nichols (husband David), Monique Harris, Antoinette Collier, Kalimba Harris, Pamela Bailey, Matthew Sloan, Christopher (wife Leticia) Sloan, Ollie Bailey, and Jeremy Jones. She is also survived by sixteen grand nieces and nephews, and four great grand nieces and nephews who will cherish her memory. The service will be held at 12 PM on Friday, January 26, 2024, at Lind Brothers Funeral Home DBA Lowest Cost Cremation and Burial at 4221 Manzanita Avenue in Carmichael, California. Her burial will be held immediately after at East Lawn Memorial at 4300 Folsom Blvd in Sacramento, California.
