James Edward Fischer

Born March 3, 1939 in Sheboygan WI, courageously lost his battle with cancer and entered into eternal life on September 21, 2011. Preceded in death by his parents, Robert and Margaret Fischer of Kohler, WI, he is survived by wife Mary of 49 years, daughter Julie Alexander (Brad); sons James Jr. (Farah), Joseph, and John (USCG); grandchildren Kristina, Jenessa and Jayden; mother-in-law, Maria Pesely; sisters Mary Turvey (Dan) of Marquette, MI, and Margaret Applebaum (Jerry) of Acworth, GA, and brother Robert Fischer (Mardel) of Sheboygan Falls, WI. Jim moved to Sacramento in 1959 when he was in the U.S. Air Force. He continued as a civilian employee at McClellan AFB for 32 years, and pursued a degree in Mathematics at Sacramento State. He became an expert with aircraft electronics and terrain-following radar, working as an avionics technician to maintain high performance jet aircraft, primarily the F-111. In 1962 he met and married Mary Helen Pesely. Jim loved camping, hiking, fishing, cycling, calligraphy and woodworking. He particularly loved traveling Highway 1. Jim and Mary attended many Dixieland Jazz festivals in the last 30 years. Over the last year, he maintained a grateful spirit often saying what a lucky person he was to have seen his children grow into such fine people and to know his grandchildren. There will be a Vigil at Green Valley Mortuary (Green Valley and Bass Lake Road) on Monday, September 26, 2011 at 7pm and a funeral mass at Holy Trinity Church, 3111 Tierra de Dios Drive, El Dorado Hills, on Tuesday, September 27, 2011 at 11:00am. Interment will be at Calvary Catholic Cemetery, 7101 Verner Ave, Sacramento, on Thursday, September 29, 2011 at 10:30am. In lieu of flowers, the family suggests a donation to Snowline Hospice, 6520 Pleasant Valley Road, Diamond Springs, CA 95619.
