Joan Louise Hodges

It is with great sadness that we share Mom's passing. She was born in Nebraska and grew up in Tulelake, Ca where she met Dad when he bumped into her in high school knocking her books out of her arms. He smiled when we asked if he did it on purpose; he adored our Mom. They married after graduation and Mom worked at the local bank and in various forms of accounting positions she held throughout her life. Mom loved taking photos and movies of their many travels, keeping treasured memories and details journaled and alive for us all. Dad often joked, that they should have owned stock in Kodak! Her focus was Dad, and then our family as it grew. PTA, Cub Scout Den Mother, Girl Scout Leader; she couldn't keep her hand down Dad joked. She will be deeply missed by the many lives she touched. Joan loved to see the world; she and Dad traveled to 37 countries as well as throughout the US and Canada. They made many friendships during their travels; people who became lifelong friends. Music, golf, cards and adventures with her family and friends were among her favorite pastimes. Many neighborhood friends still remark about how great it was that our Mom's played bridge for nearly 50 years! Joan's number one priority was her love for her family. She was preceded in death by her parents Floyd and Barbara Martin and husband Gene Hodges, who passed away in 2002. She is survived by her son Steve Hodges and daughter-in-law Bonny, daughter Amy Fischlin, her grandchildren Ryan Hodges and wife Miriam, Katie Rhea and husband Keith, and 3 great grandsons Charlie and Ethan Hodges and Caden Rhea who was born just 3 days after she passed. Her grandchildren and great grandchildren brought her tremendous joy. She was dearly loved and will be greatly missed. Per Mom's request, there will be no services and a private scattering of her ashes.
