Lawrence Yerby Obituary

Lawrence Yerby
April 4, 1942 - December 2, 2021
Sacramento, California - Lawry Yerby was born in Sacramento to parents Tom and Alleen Yerby. He attended Sacramento High school and was a drummer in the Sac High Band. After high school he attended Sacramento State University and majored in business. After college, he went to work for the family business; Yerby Brake Supply. He also married his college sweetheart Nancy Zimmerman. Together they raised 4 children. After the passing of his mother, he took over as owner and manager of the family business. In 2009, after 80 years in operation he decided to close the business and retire to greener pastures.
Throughout his life he loved playing his drums for the Masonic Lodge dances and for the "Sutterville Stompers" a local Dixieland jazz band that played every Sunday night in Old Sacramento, and in the annual Sacramento Dixieland Jazz Jubilee. He also played for the Rancho Murietta church choir in more recent years.
In 1994 he married Betty and moved to the mobile home park at Ranch Murietta. Lawry also loved the outdoors, and he and Betty had many happy years fishing, camping, and traveling around the state and country with their RV and boat.
Lawry also loved to bicycle. In 2015, he bicycled by himself to Los Angeles to visit a friend in the VA hospital.
Lawry was a member of the Christian Science Church in Folsom, CA. He was a very a kind, generous, and loving person throughout his life. He will be missed by all who knew him.
Lawry is survived by his sister Leone Wildemann, his four children Michael Yerby, Kristina Kozitza, Kimberly Klusky, and Kevin Yerby, his seven grandchildren, Brittany Widin, Patrick Kozitza, Nicolas Kozitza, Alissa Klusky, Samuel Klusky, Aden Yerby and Carson Yerby, his former Son-in-law John Kozitza, and his two former wives Nancy and Betty.
A small family and friends gathering will be held at the home of Leone Wildemann on April 3rd. For any wishing to attend, please contact her.
