SHAW, Rodney Lyle
Passed peacefully away on February 16, 2008, in Huntington Beach, Calif., surrounded by family and friends. Rodney was only 60 years old and maintained a positive and inspirational attitude before succumbing to esophageal and brain cancer. Born on April 9, 1947, in Jackson, Tenn., Rodney truly captured the essence of life - engaging with people and realizing adventures across the U.S. and the globe. Rodney was a decorated Veteran of the United States Air Force retiring after more than two decades of service. He will be fondly and forever remembered by those he leaves behind: his wife June Shaw; sons Michael Shaw and Dean Jones (partner) and Jonathan Shaw and Mandy Stidham; (fiance); siblings, Cathy Shaw and Dick DeDonder (husband), Ramona Lawson and husband Tim, Mark Shaw and wife Michelle, Terry Atkins, Dave Atkins and wife Heather, Rayanne Carpenter and husband Michael, and Rebecca Shaw; his grandchildren, Jon-Michael and Liberty Shaw and Bailey Stidham; and his step-mother, Charlotte Shaw; and a large and loving extended family of nieces, nephews, cousins and in-laws. He is preceded in death by his mother, Lela Mae Atkins, and father, Douglas Shaw. A long-time enthusiast of boats and the boating lifestyle, he will also be cherished by an extended network of friends and his "Marina Family" in Walnut Grove, Calif. In March, a private Celebration of Life will take place for Rodney in Walnut Grove.
