MARIE VANCE DEVGAN

MARIE VANCE DEVGAN, loving mother, wife, and daughter entered eternal life on May 28, 2015 following a life filled with family and friends, lots of great memories and a fight to the end as she battled ovarian cancer. She is survived by her husband of 13 years, Preetpaul; son Alexander (Alex), 9; daughter Louise, 8; parents, Donn and Linda Vance of Monterey, TN; Godchildren, Krista Sheneman of Oakwood, Joe Sheneman of Memphis and Victoria Theys of Oak Park, IL; and many trusted friends. Marie was born June 10, 1976 in Des Moines, Iowa. She lived in Memphis from 1988 until her graduation from Germantown High School in 1994. Marie attended Purdue University from 1994 until 2001, where she earned a Bachelor’s degree in Aviation Technology and a Master of Business Administration. Marie was also an Aviation Instructor at Purdue and received the first Assistantship through the department while working on her Master’s degree. While at Purdue University she met Preetpaul, and they subsequently married in 2001. After their wedding, they moved to Chicago, where Marie worked as a flight instructor and later at Crate & Barrel while Preetpaul successfully pursued a Ph.D. in Electrical Engineering from Northwestern University. While in Chicago, they welcomed Alex to the family. After Preetpaul’s graduation, they moved to the Washington DC area, and Louise joined the family shortly thereafter. Marie continued to work at Crate & Barrel and then joined PAI Consulting as an Aviation Consultant to the FAA while Preetpaul began working with the Department of Defense. While at PAI, she was recognized for her significant contributions as a member of the Commercial Aviation Safety Team, which received the Collier Trophy. In 2012, they moved to Dayton, Ohio and Marie continued to work with PAI and her clients until early 2015. A Celebration of Marie’s Life will be held at Lutheran Church of Our Savior, Oakwood, Ohio at 2 p.m. Saturday, June 13. At Marie’s request, the service is to be “blue jean” casual.
