Randall Mabe Obituary

Randall Hale (Randy) Mabe

SALISBURY - Randall Hale (Randy) Mabe, 67, of Salisbury, Child of God, Husband, Father, Son, Brother and Friend, went to be with his Lord Saturday, July 15, 2006.

Randy was born in Mooresville on Aug. 22, 1938, to the late Raleigh Herman Mabe and Georgia Stutts Mabe. Upon graduation from Mooresville High School, he served four years in the U.S. Navy.

After completion of his military service, he attended Wake Forest University, graduating in 1964 with a BBA in Business. Shortly after graduation, he joined Nationwide Mutual Insurance Company, working with them for over 35 years before his retirement in 2000.

Randy was a Disciple of First Presbyterian Church in Salisbury, serving on the Evangelism Committee and the Blessing Bunch. He was an avid supporter of the Life Center Worship service.

He was a volunteer for both Rowan Regional Home Health & Hospice and Habitat for Humanity. Randy loved the Lord, family, friends, his faithful dog, Max, and the Blue Ridge Mountains. He enjoyed traveling to new places and sharing good times with friends. He loved a good joke and had a great sense of humor. He had a passion for hiking, riding his motorcycle and spending time outdoors. He was an avid reader and Civil War history buff, frequently visiting Civil War battlefields. Most of all, Randy loved sharing the word of Jesus Christ.

Randy is survived by his wife, Judith Morris Mabe, whom he married May 25, 1991, and three sons, Shane Mabe and Brian Mabe of Concord and Brad Mabe of Charlotte. He is also survived by his twin sister, Beverly Archie (Pete) of Mooresville and sister Peggy Holshouser (Howard) of Raleigh. Other survivors include two grandchildren, several nieces and nephews and many friends.

Service and visitation: Inurnment will take place Saturday, July 29, 2006, at 10 a.m. at the Columbarium of First Presbyterian Church Salisbury, with a Memorial Service celebrating Randy's life to follow in Lewis Hall in the Family Life Center. In tribute to Randy's dislike for ties, casual attire is encouraged. A time of visitation and fellowship will follow the service in Lewis Hall. The Memorial Service will be conducted by the Rev. Dr. Jim Dunkin, the Rev. Dr. Randy Kirby and the Rev. Dr. Andre Resner.

Memorials: Memorials may be made to First Presbyterian Church, Life Center Worship, 308 W. Fisher St., Salisbury, NC 28144; or Rowan Regional Home Health & Hospice, 825-A W. Henderson St., Salisbury, NC 28145.

Evergreen Cremation Services is assisting the Mabe family.

Dear Judy,

We feel your pain with the passing of Randy. Steve and I so enjoyed our time @ church together in the Sunday school class first started when we all joined. We loved talking scriptures and civil war with Randy as we shared many interest with him. He will be truly missed but we all share the joy of knowing he is with the Lord. God bless you and dry your tears until you and Randy meet again. Please let us know if we can help in any way. Love in the Lord Steve and Donna
