Marie, Eric, and Lexie,
Chris was a wonderful man that many people will miss. We are so sorry for your loss.
Whenever we watch one of the DVDs he made for Lexie's soccer and basketball teams, we will think of Chris. Whenever we go camping to Iron Mine, we will think of Chris. Whenever we pack our eggs in a bottle, we will think of Chris. We will also think of Chris whenever we use our "forgotten" tent (thanks Chris, for picking it up out of the bushes and making sure it got back to our house).
We will miss Chris, but we will remember him too.
Marie, Eric, and Lexie, it was obvious to anyone who knew Chris that he was very proud of his family and he loved you all very much. Please know that our thoughts and prayers are with all of you.

I work with Chris at R&S in the early '90s. He was the one that hired me straight out of school. He was a good guy to be around and was glad to have known him. It is sad to hear that he is gone but I wish the Humphrey family well. He will be missed.

Dear Humphrey Family: Our company has had the distinct pleasure of working with Chris for the past 10+ yrs. His engineering acumen made it easy and a pleasure to work on projects with him, providing engineering estimates and special design assistance, if required. In particular, Brent Taylor and Suzanne Blackburn worked with him and would occasionally see him at trade shows. He was always pleasant and happy! You could tell he loved life. Although he was taken from you all way to soon, there is no doubt you will find comfort in your memories and the promise of seeing him again in the future.
God bless you and may you all find peace and comfort from those around you. Allow them to give you support at this very trying and sad time.
With kind regards,
Hilfiker Retaining Walls, owners Harold and Bill, and all employees in the Eureka, CA and Levan, UT offices.

I never met Chris, and spoke with him on the phone only once, but he was a true gentleman and remarkably kind to me when he found out that I was researching and writing about his grandfather, Sgt. Edward Chidley Humphrey, a distinguished veteran of the 29th Infantry Division in WWII who was awarded two Silver Stars for heroism. Chris told me of his grandfather and openly shared family stories that were very important to me. I will miss his generosity and will of course miss sending him a copy of the wartime story of his grandfather. My condolences to the family. "29, Let's Go!"

I miss you old boy and will see you soon enough, but not today.
Marie, Eric, and Lexie,
My deepest sympathy, prayers and any help I can only offer. This part of Robert Frost's Reluctance from "A BOY'S WILL" reminds me of Chris. May it help you find peace as it has for me.
Reluctance
Out through the fields and the woods
And over the walls I have wended;
I have climbed the hills of view
And looked at the world, and descended;
I have come by the highway home,
And lo, it is ended.....
Ah, when to the heart of man
Was it ever less than a treason
To go with the drift of things,
To yield with a grace to reason,
And bow and accept the end
Of a love or a season?

I am so sorry to hear of Chris's passing. As a previous personal trainer at CHRC, I ran into Chris almost daily and he was so cheerful and loved to work out so hard....he made lifting heavy weights look easy. He always spoke so kindly of his family and would share on all the adventures they all had together. My heart goes out to you all.

I am shocked and saddened at Chris' passing. Though I did not have the pleasure of knowing him personally in this life, there can be no doubt that the man who fathered such admirable individuals as Eric and Lexie was great and honorable himself. I wish all of his friends and family strength in these trying times and hope for the future.

Dear Humphries family,
I am very fortunate to have known Chris during the years he took Taekwon-Do classes with Eric. In the beginning, I would take my oldest son to the class and would hang out till the end. Watching Chris’ participation and sharing in Eric’s life inspired me to sign up and take the class with my son as well as with my two younger children. It was always an added joy when Chris was present at class which his traveling job did not always allow. He was a mentor always willing to share his knowledge and friendship with others.
Chris generously gave many hours of his own time volunteering to assist my son in the physical part of his black belt test being thrown to the mat many times. He was not only a “hands on dad” to his children, but an inspiration in the lives to all three of my children as well as many others. The years I have spent in Taekwon-Do sharing in my children’s lives are some of the greatest highlights of my life. Thank you Chris!
My prayers go out to your family.

I am sadden to hear about Chris's passing. My deepest sympathy's to the family. I only knew Chris Humphrey by working on his muscles, and working those stress knots out (not many). Chris will be greatly missed by family, and friends.
Remember Chris is up on a fluffy cloud sking the slopes, no trees, no rocks.
Surfing the waves, and has GOD taken time out and havin" fun too.
Chris's heart touched many people here on earth, through his knowledge and love of life. Remember when you need Chris just look over your shoulder he's not far away.

To Chris' family,
I was saddened to hear of Chris' sudden passing. I had the pleasure of working with him at River for nearly 3 years. Though we did not work in the same office I enjoyed his visits to Columbus. He was carefree and lighthearted; he enjoyed his work and loved sharing stories about his family. I looked up to him and thought of him as a great leader. He will be greatly missed. I will continue to keep the Humphrey family in my thoughts and prayers.

Marie, Eric and Lexie,
Your Husband and Father was such an warm and outgoing neighbor and friend to me when we moved in across the street from you last year. I am so sad that I won't be able to get to spend time talking with Chris anymore. Chris was so proud of you and didn't hesitate to tell me about each of you with a noticeable level of pride.
This summer Chris was preparing to take Lexie and Eric camping. I spoke with him for several minutes in the front of your house. He was very excited for the trip. He had been getting the gear ready and was testing the cooler to see how long the ice would last. He wanted everything to be perfect. He mentioned that Marie "doesn't camp" and that she wasn't going on the trip. I could tell that Chris completely understood why Marie didn't want to camp and he was fine with her staying home so she could do some things that she wanted to get done. He seems very much at peace with the situation and was very up beat and excited for the trip.
I have many memories of Chris I would like to share with you when you are ready. He was a great man and I really wish I could spend more time with him. In life you were his highest priority. That was clear to me. Where ever Chris is now, I am sure that his concern and love for you is greater than ever. I hope to be of service to you as your neighbor in the coming years as much as Chris was of service to me this past year. Please accept my deepest sympathies. Rick Clayton

To Chris's family,
We are all saddend by unexpected lost of Chris. I knew Chris professionaly for a number of years. I knew Chris as a customer, competitor, co-worker and as a friend. He was always up-beat and positive in his attitude. His love of life always showed on the outside. Professionaly, Chris's "can do" attitude was an emotion that spread to people who worked with him.
Chris will always be remembered by anyone who ever met him.

Marie, Eric and Lexie,
Chris was a very special person; unique in so many ways. He was, without a doubt, a technogeek of the highest order. There were two traits of his that helped him push his boundaries. One, he loved technology and loved to make it work. Two, he hated to be told he couldn’t do something. While Chris was in China, he emailed me for some help setting up his blackberry as an internet connection. Apparently, western content is blocked by and large by the Chinese government. I emailed him some general instructions and never heard about it from him again. When he got back, he was thrilled to tell me that the blackberry connection worked great. He had unfettered access, and had a blast posting pictures on Facebook of his adventures in the Orient while he was there. He thoroughly enjoyed everyone’s feedback on his daily postings and loved getting one over on the host country.
Eric; he loved taking the trip with you to California to see the universities. He came back more excited about the whole thing than when he left. It didn’t seem to matter what school you two saw. He had good things to say about each one and knew that you would succeed where ever you went. But more importantly, I think he came back knowing you were ready for your next step.
Lexie; He had a funny story about the clock your eighth grade team gave him for coaching. When he got the box, he couldn’t figure out what it was. So, he was just standing there trying to look grateful for a wood box, not knowing that it opened and such. When he finally figured it out, he was more than a little embarrassed, but even more grateful for the acknowledgement. I was in a meeting with him the day you called to tell him about the try-outs. It was all he could do to manage his concern for your welfare and happiness. What happened at the tryouts didn’t matter. His desire to comfort you did.
Chris was very proud of both of you. I, myself, am a proud father of two. As men are want to do, we compared stories of our children; their struggles and accomplishments. Chris was never short of praise or pride for either of you. I know in my heart that he loves you very much and will always be there when you need him.
As for myself, Chris gave me opportunity after opportunity to grow personally and professionally. He provided guidance and advice with a compassion that melded with hope and encouragement. He was a listener, a teacher, and was fast becoming a good friend. I will miss him.
I am so very sorry for your sudden and unexpected loss. My prayers are with you.

We are so sorry for the loss of Chris. He was one of the funniest, wittiest and smartest people I have ever met and I enjoyed being around him at the school board meetings, basketball, school programs and especially the fundraisers when he always talked me into spending more! He was a mentor to me in the ways that he cared for his family and loved you all so much. I hope the grief passes quickly for all of you and we can remember him with the humor and light heartedness that he would want.
Much Sympathy,

Marie and family,
I was very surprised when I heard that Chris had passed away. My kids had seen him at the Utes game on Thursday and talked with him for a few minutes. Then to hear that he was gone so suddenly was a shock. Life is so precious, so hold tight and always tell your loved ones how much they mean to you.
Chris was a wonderful boss to work for. He and Paul were the greatest together. Always laughing and doing fun things together. They made our work place the best. When Chris was in the office he was always coming by to make sure that you had everything you needed and just to say HI. Chris talked about his children and all the things he used to do with them. He was always involved in what they did. He was a hands on father for sure.
When he left River to start a new job, I knew that he was only a phone call away. I really missed him and I hoped that someday I would have the opportunity to possibly work with he and Paul again.
Know that he is smiling down on all of you and he is your guardian angel.
My deepest sympathies are with all of you at this time of sorrow.
Love,

The news of Chris's passing was so unexpected. Chris was my mentor at R&S and did so much to help me acclimate and feel comfortable. He was always someone I could turn to with a problem. I always enjoyed our lunch time exercise and jacuzzi sessions at the Hilton.

Marie, Eric, and Lexie, and all Chris's family,
I will always consider Chris as one of my best friends. Working with him for so many years he is like family to me. He gave me opportunities to grow professionally and was always confident that I could do whatever he asked me to do.
Chris seldom talked ill of anyone. He was most uncomfortable when people around him were not happy and always tried to keep things light and encouraged others to find ways to "geter done".
Chris and I talked often of his family and I admired what a good father he was. How many Dads leave work to go help out in their children’s classroom?
My deepest sympathies and love to your family. I know your heart is broken but I know that Chris's greatest pain in leaving these earthly existents would be your unhappiness. His energy is too intense and strong I know he will be with you always. I love Mike O’Brien message on facebook “you will have the best seat from which to watch as the wildly successful lives of your two lovely children unfold in the years to come..”
I have no doubt that where Chris is he has found access the internet. So to Chris I like to say; I will miss knowing you’re a phone call away, I will miss your posts on FB, I will miss your witting and diversity way in which you used the English language, I will miss when you were at loss for words and would lean back and laugh, but most of all I will miss my friend. Love always,

What a terrible phone call to receive. Chris was an honest and professional businessman friend that I was honored to know for quite a few years. Our meetings were too few, but I always looked forward to a get-together with this upbeat and intelligent guy. I am sorry beyond words for his wife and kids. We have lost a good friend and they have lost a very loving father and husband.
