Debora Jean CoxRobbins 1950 ~ 2003 SYRACUSE - Debora Jean Cox Robbins passed away unexpectedly but peacefully in her sleep early Thursday morning, November 13, 2003. Debbie (or Deb as she was known to many) was born Nov 10, 1950, in Ogden, Utah, to Robert Burns Cox and Bonnie Rae Whitelock. Debbie spent her childhood in Ogden and Clearfield and her summers in Henry, Idaho, at the Whitelock family marina and cafe. It was there, under the loving guidance of her grandmother, Bonnie Whitelock, that Debbie learned to cook, to love family and friends with an unwavering fierceness, and to look at the problems life handed her and laugh. With this legacy, Deb blessed the lives of her husband, her children, and all those privileged to know her. Deb graduated from Clearfield High in 1969 to continue her education at BYU and Weber State University, earning her bachelor's in English and education. She married Kenneth Lynn Robbins on June 9, 1973, in the Ogden LDS Temple. Together they had three children: Denver, Summer and Nick. Though Deb loved to travel, her heart was always at the family campground in Henry. Whether fishing, telling jokes around the fire, pitching horseshoes, or just sipping a Pepsi in the cafe, Deb surrounded herself with the people she loved. Debbie's unmistakable laughter and sometimes irreverent sense of humor was contagious. She placed no one, friend or stranger, outside her circle of loving acceptance and concern. Everyone she met felt drawn to her by the pull of her generous heart. Deb cherished life and loved learning. She passionately pursued everything that broadened her understanding of the world around her and she dedicated herself to inspiring that same passion in the students she taught over the years in Weber and Davis School Districts. Hoping to do more, she accepted the position of Supervisor of English in the secondary schools in the Davis School District. Recently she completed her Master's in Education and Administration at Idaho State University and became Principal at Crestview Elementary School. She often expressed her love for the children there and the blessing it was to her to see them learn and grow through the tireless efforts of a devoted faculty and staff. As a long-time member of the Syracuse Stake, Deb held numerous ward and stake positions in the Young Women, Primary, Sunday School and Relief Society. She loved the Gospel of Jesus Christ and her testimony of it was shared in the way she lived it. Charitably uncritical, she could correct the wayward with a crooked smile and support the weary, the frightened, and the grieving with the genuine compassion of her listening and the soothing balm of her wisdom. The world was a better place with Deb in it. Her loss is immeasurable. Deb was preceded in death by her grandparents, three aunts and two uncles. She is survived by her husband Ken Robbins; her children Denver (& Laurie) Robbins, Summer (& Kyle) Nance, Nick Robbins; and her four grandsons, Christopher Robbins, the sweet one, Jack Robbins, the serious one, Hunter Nance, the genius, and Max Nance, the one with eyes bluer than Paul Newman's. She is also survived by her mother, Bonnie Elwood of Riverdale; her father, Robert Cox of Clearfield; her brother, Keith (& Connie) Cox; and her sister, Kathy (& Scott) Taggart, both of Ogden. Friends may call Sunday, Nov 16, 2003, 6-9 p.m. at Myers Mortuary, 250 N. Fairfield Rd., Layton, Utah. Funeral will be Monday, Nov 17, 2003, at the Syracuse South Stake Center, 3065 S.
