James Hone Obituary

James "Poppy" D. Hone wonderful husband, loving father, adored grandfather, and loyal friend has gone to play golf on a higher plane. Jim had a special and loving relationship with his sister, Elva Jean Thornton of American Fork. He left us on August 20, 2015 at age 63. He was born on December 12, 1951 to James C. Hone and Louise Deuel Hone.
Jim was born and raised in Orem, UT where he worked alongside his father at Jim's Kamper Sales for many years. He spent his life selling and repairing RVs. He was married for 12 years to Mary Ellen Vincent who gave him four beautiful children. They later divorced and Jim met the love of his life and forever dance partner, Karen in 1983. They married shortly after in 1984 and Jim gained 3 more children. After a short time in Orem and San Diego, they settled down in St. George 1991.
Next to his family, Jim's passions were golf and boating. He loved spending time outdoors and his favorite location was Lake Powell where he would spend hours with his family and friends. For years he played softball with his friends and family in a community league where he got the nickname "Shoe" which stuck the rest of his life. Jim spent 12 years in the army reserve where he was honorably discharged in ping-pong and pool. His skills were legendary among his children and grandchildren. Jim had a great love for people and gave freely of himself to anyone who was in need.
Jim is survived by: his wife Karen; his children: Billie Sorensen (Stephanie) of Sandy, Charles Sorensen (Lisa) of Salt Lake, Brad Hone of St. George, Becky Adams (Ray) of Hurricane, Melissa Ruiz (Jared) of Payson, Summer Gardner (Brad) of Denver, Kellie Duncan (Mike) of Spanish Fork; 23 grandchildren, 5 great-grandchildren, and countless friends including his poker buddies… and his dog Ozzy.
He was preceded in death by his parents; his sister Marie; and his grandson Mickey.

Karen and Family...I was so shocked to hear of Jim's passing. He was someone so full of life and fun! I worked with him at Painter's and he definitely kept me laughing. My husband and I feel so sad for you but we really will all see each other again. What a party that will be! God Bless Jim Hone.
