Marilyn Lopez Obituary

Marilyn McArthur Lopez

1954~2024

Salt Lake City, UTThe world is a little less fun, and a little less beautiful now that our mom, grandma, wife, daughter, sister and aunt Marilyn McArthur Lopez is gone. But we are all so grateful for having her beautiful spirit in our lives while she was here with us. She was gregarious, flamboyant, adventurous, creative, and had a zeal for life that was contagious. She had a smile that could light up any room. She was often the life of the party and was never afraid to dance, sing, and share her enthusiasm. There were so many times she made people smile when they thought they couldn't. As her husband would say, Marilyn loved everybody, and everybody loved Marilyn.

Marilyn loved nature of all kinds, from mountains to deserts, and oceans to streams. She never ceased to wonder at the beauty of unique rocks and shells, and she never took the natural world for granted. On the day she died she spent the morning outside in the warm sunshine of Page Arizona, taking in the vast sky and fresh air. And even though she was so fond of sunshine and warmth, she appreciated the beauty of snow fall and loved Christmas. She was one of those people who was the first to decorate, and the last to take it all down. She loved caring for plants and animals-especially her little canine companions that traveled with her everywhere.

She loved music of all kinds, which she enjoyed while driving a semi-truck all over the country with her husband Oscar for 20 years. Before that, she spent many years waiting tables to help support her family. She was a hard worker, because she never did anything halfway. She put her whole heart into everything she did. She and her husband appreciated all that they were able to accomplish and experience together in their lives. They had many travels and adventures, making friends from all walks of life, and from all over the United States, Mexico, and even El Salvador.

She was blessed with her daughters Augusta and Dayna, their husbands, Erik and Dustin, and her grandkids Abigail, Sam, Lily, Daniel, and Lexi. As much as they loved her, her husband Oscar loved her even more. Married for almost 41 years, she was his other half in work, in travel, and in daily life. She loved her mother Barbara deeply, as well as her sisters Susan, DiAnn, LuAnn, Carolyn, and her brothers Ken and Ronnie.
