Douglas Burks Obituary
Douglas Wayne Burks was born 52 years ago on April 8, 1962. He was the first born to his late parents - Jay B and Dist. Missionary LaVerne Burks in San Antonio TX.
Doug developed good work ethics; he started as a teenager at McDonalds in San Antonio, and then later moved to Austin TX where he gained employment at the Greyhound bus station until he landed his final job at Dell computers where he worked for 15 years as a Plant Manager. On April 1st 2001 he joined the One Way Baptist Church as a drummer under the leadership of Pastor Bernard Buhl where he met his wife Sarita Burks
He leaves to cherish his memories and loving and devoted wife Sarita Burks, One son Marquail Burks, One daughter Elisha Diane Burks, Three brother and one sister Major Lee Burks of Austin TX, Kenneth (Charline) Burks, Stephanie Burks and Anthony Burks all of San Antonio TX. One Uncle Melvin Jones of Knoxville TN, One Aunt Eloise Jones Sykes of San Antonio TX, One God son Joshua Gilliam of Austin TX, and a host of nieces, nephews, great nieces, nephews, cousins, In-Laws and special friends. In lieu of flowers please donate to One Way Baptist Church Music Ministry 2107 Hairy Man Road, Round Rock TX 78681. Doug requested that everyone wear blue to his celebration service.
A visitation will be on Thursday, 5pm - 7pm at West End COGIC Church in San Antonio, TX. Because of building renovations public viewing will be at Austin Peel & Son Funeral Home, 607 E Anderson Lane, Austin, TX. Service of Celebration will be Saturday, 1pm at One Way Baptist Church. Services entrusted to Dr. Barry J.W. "The Shepherd" Franklin, CFSP @ A Life Celebration By Franklin.

Doug and i lost touch with each other , So i'm just getting the news of him going home, back in 1987 i met Doug i got hire at Greyhound Bus where he was already working, He was kind of a big brother.I was fresh out the military and he help me get adjusted to real so to speak. Great guy ,Funny.real great man. To the family prayers go out. Many blessing.

We're so sorry to hear about your loss. We knew Doug through the great music that he played with our favorite local band, Jazzopoly. We had the pleasure of Doug and the band playing at our home for my 50th in May 2012 and what great memories they were. San Diego Chargers football, was another common interest for Doug and I. Doug will be missed.
