James Slavin Obituary
Jim Slavin passed away on June 19, 2015 at the age of 69. He was born in San Antonio, Texas, to Alfred and Frances (Dobrowolski) Slavin. Jim was a beloved husband, father and grandfather. He is survived by his wife, Alice Marie, son Paul and daughter-in-law Cindy (Skiles), daughter Michelle and son-in-law Ronny Redd and son Sean Patrick Slavin. He is also survived by grandson, Paul David and granddaughter Ashley Slavin and grandsons, Trey and Barrett Redd, sister-in-law Gayle Simon, nieces, Jennifer Sandstrom and Amy Schock, brother Buddy (Sue) Slavin and sister Carolyn (Melvin) Danysh. A lifelong resident of San Antonio he was involved in many church, youth and community organizations. Jim was a dedicated USAA employee for 39 years before retiring in 2011 and becoming a member of the Golden Eagles. His most cherished times were spent in Rockport with his children and grandchildren. He will be remembered for his gentle spirit and the kindness he showed to all. Jim will be dearly missed. SERVICES, July 1, 2015 9:30 AM at Our Lady of Guadalupe Catholic Church 13715 Riggs Road, Helotes, TX, 78023, followed by Internment at FT. Sam Houston National Cemetery. In lieu of flowers contributions may be made to the Arc of San Antonio, 13430 West Avenue, San Antonio TX, 78216.

Alice, my deepest condolences to you and your family. I was sad to hear about Jim's passing. It was a pleasure working with him at USAA. Everytime I think of Jim it brings a smile to my face just remembering our little chats at work - mostly about family. My thoughts and prayers are with you all.

I've only just heard about our losing Jim and I wanted to echo the words written here. Jim was the kindest, sweetest man I ever had the pleasure of working with and working for. I am so grateful that I had the honor to know Jim. My thoughts, prayers and sympathies are with Jim's family at this time. You were so important to him and so very lucky to have had him.

My deepest sympathy to Alice and children of Mr. Slavin. I was honored to work for Jim for several years at USAA. Jim was a gentle soul, easy going and such a sweet man to work for. He is now in the arms of our loving Father in Heaven.. RIP Jim.

All my condolences to jim slavins family. He was our manager at usaa and was a very kind loving and considerate man. Even though i left usaa before he did i give him all the dedication to us as a manager and he was a great man. For being their so many years my heart goes out to his family. May God provide strength and comfort to the family. I worked with Jim at USAA and in fact was his boss for a few years. He was a top notch individual. One of the most caring people I knew, loved his family and was a Christian man. He was a very dependable and very good employee. God BLess the entire family.
