Joe Navarro Obituary

August 4, 1927 - February 28, 2015
Joe T. Navarro, surrounded by his family was called home to be with
the Lord on February 28, 2015. He is now rejoicing with the love of his
life, his wife, Mary Lou. They were married 51 years before her passing in 2005. Joe was born in San Antonio, Texas on August 4, 1927 but he was mainly raised in Nuevo Laredo, Mexico. He joined the Navy on July 11, 1945. He was always proud of his service to his country. After the service, he attended Barber school and practiced this trade for many
years. Joe retired from Kelly Air Force Base on December 16, 1987, where he had worked as a Preservation Packer for 21 years. During this time he earned multiple commendations and recognitions for his innovative designs, which were implemented by his department. He converted to Christianity in the early 80's. He dedicated his life to the
Lord and his family. He became an active and loyal member of La
Mission Del Cordero and later of Templo Gethsemani. His first
grandchild began calling him "Popo" and it was a name that stuck. Thereafter, his grandchildren and great grandchildren knew him only as "Popo." He was a man of kindness and reverence. He loved everyone he met and always prayed for them. Joe has left a lasting impact on all who he touched and will be missed tremendously. We love you Dad
and we know that you are no longer in pain. Your family will strive to honor you by living life as you did. The family would like to extend a
very heartfelt thank you to all those who cared for our sweet father: Babcock Associates, Dr. David White, the staff on 3West-Methodist
Specialty and Transplant Hospital, Dr. Rodney Carry, Regent Care
Center staff, Dr. Peter Acosta and New Century Hospice. Joe was preceded in death by his parents, Manuel and Isabel Navarro, wife, Mary Lou Navarro, granddaughter, Sarah Farias and son-in-law, Jose Luis Cruz Jr. He is survived by his children, Rosalinda (Arturo) Perez, Joseph T. (Mary) Navarro, Marie Faircloth, Annette Gallegos, Monica Farias and Eva Coultress; grandchildren, Devina Faircloth, Joanie (Priscilla) Faircloth, John Paul (Alejandra) Faircloth III, Jennifer Gallegos, Michelle (Mike) Gallegos, Stephanie Gallegos, Joseph Anthony Navarro, Jeannie (Rico) Navarro, Laura (Joe) Garcia and Christopher (Jessica) Maldonado; 15 great-grandchildren; sister, Josefina Mireles; brother, Antonio Navarro; numerous nieces and nephews. Visitation will be at Sunset Northwest Funeral Home on Bandera Road on Thursday, March 12, 2015 from 12:00 pm to 9:00 pm with an evening prayer service at 7:00 pm. The funeral procession will depart the funeral home at 10:00 am Friday, March 13, 2015 for a 10:30 am service at Templo Gethsemani Church, 519 Commercial Avenue 78211. Interment will follow at Fort Sam Houston National Cemetery with U.S. Navy military honors. Expressions of sympathy may be made at www.sunsetnwfuneralhome.com

To The Navarro Family

My sincere sympathy to you all. I worked with your mom at Kelly AFB, and your dad would sometimes give us a ride home. He was always very attentive to your mom and was a lot of fun too. I will miss them both. May they both rest in peace together.
