2021
Our loving mother, grandmother, great-grandmother, great-great-grandmother, sister, aunt and friend, Rosie (Ramirez) Garcia, went to be with the Lord on October 30, 2021, at the age of 90.
Rosie was born on June 8, 1931 in San Antonio, TX.
After graduating from Fox Tech High School in 1949, Rosie entered the Baptist Health System's Nursing School program in which she became a Registered Nurse. After working in the private sector, Rosie found her true calling when she began working for the City of San Antonio's Metropolitan Health District. As a traveling RN, Rosie got to experience working with pre-natal patients, well-child care and immunizations, and adult health at the many clinics around San Antonio. She retired from the city after 25 years of service to the community.
Rosie was married to Mike D. Garcia for over 56 years. They lived in San Antonio when first married, but later moved to La Coste, Texas where they lived on a small ranch for 45 years until moving back to San Antonio. There they raised their family that they were absolutely committed to, were very proud of and loved deeply. Rosie grew to love the country life very much.
She is preceded in death by her husband, Mike D. Garcia; parents, Rumaldo and Mary Catherine Ramirez; sister, Delia Valdez (Cipriano); brother, Rumaldo Ramirez, Jr. and brother in law, Donaciano Garcia, sister-in-law, Juanita.
Rosie is survived by her loving children, Diana Hernandez (Porfirio), Lonnie Garcia (Tina), Shelia Galindo-Campos (Hector) and Michael A. Garcia (Cindy); sisters, Mary Josephine Villarreal (Carlos) of San Antonio, TX and Mary Stella Munoz (Albert) of Spring, TX; Brother-in-law, David Garcia (Gloria); 13 grandchildren, Mario, Daniel, Rebekah, Gabriel, Alyssa, Elaine, Celeste, Emily, Ricky, Jason, Jacob, Justin and Michael Jr.; 39 great-grandchildren, 1 great-great-grandchild and numerous nieces and nephews.
Visitation will be on Sunday, November 14, 2021 from 5:00 to 8:00 p.m. with a Rosary to be recited at 6:30 p.m. at Mission Park Funeral Chapels South.
Funeral Mass will be on Monday, November 15, 2021 at 10:00 a.m. at Our Lady of Grace Catholic Church in Lacoste, TX.
