Sr. Bochenek Obituary

It is with great sorrow we share the passing of Sr. Agnes Bochenek on Thursday, January 26, 2023, at Connally Memorial Hospital in Floresville, Texas.

With humility and gratitude may we consider her life as an example of faith, and source of hope, in our Christian lives.

Sr. Agnes was born in Nowy Sacz, Poland to Regina and Wladyslaw Bochenek. She is survived by her mother and siblings Stanislaw, Marzena, and Danuta, nephews and nieces and beloved Seraphic Sisters. She entered the Congregation of the Daughters of Our Lady of Sorrows, known as Seraphic Sisters, on September 14, 1984 in Przemysl, Poland. Sister Agnes made her First Profession July 9, 1987 and made her Final Vows August 14, 1992. Sister moved to Texas in 1989 to study and work at St. John Paul II and St Francis Nursing Homes. It was then she began her life of service and love for the elderly. In 2000, Sr. Agnes became the Administrator of St Francis in San Antonio. She would spend the next 18 years there providing compassionate care rooted in dignity, reverence, and respect for life. In 2018 Sister moved to Kenedy, Texas to share her gifts with the St. John Paul II community. Sister Agnes had a heart open to all those suffering and in need. She became ill and after a two-week hospital stay died surrounded by her loving sisters, priests, brother, and sister-in-law. The Seraphic Sisters would like to thank the staff of Connally Memorial Hospital for their compassion and kindness during this very difficult time.

A Rosary will be held at Our Lady of Czestochowa, 130 Beethoven Ave, San Antonio, on Sunday, January 29 at 5:00 pm. A second Rosary will be held in Panna Maria, Texas at Immaculate Conception of the Blessed Virgin Mary Church, 13879 N FM 81 RD, Monday January 30 at 6:00 pm with the funeral following Tuesday, January 31 at Immaculate Conception Church in Panna Maria at 9 am. May we reflect her kindness and grace.

I am so sorry to hear of the passing of Sister Agnes. She will always have a special place in my heart. She and Seraphic Sisters along with the staff took such good care of our mother during the eight years she was at St. Francis. May the angels lead her into paradise. God bless you Sister. My deepest condolences to her family.
