ANNE L. H. "LYNNE" FLOYD

FLOYD, ANNE L. H. "LYNNE" Lynne was born in Philadelphia, PA, on July 1, 1934, to Dr. Joseph Hughes and Anne Opie Hughes and died from Alzheimer's disease on October 16, 2011, with members of her family present. The oldest of eight children, Lynne grew up in Haverford, PA and attended Shipley School from first grade through high school where she served as a class president. She graduated with a BA (History) from Wellesley College in 1956 and was again a class president. In 1956, Lynne married S. Peter Huhn, a career Naval Aviator. Pete and Lynne had three children: Sally, Peter and Joe. As a Navy wife, she lived all over and since 1976 in Coronado. In 1978, Lynne and Pete divorced. In 1983, Lynne married Edward R. "Ned" Floyd, a physicist, and moved to the Coronado Cays. Lynne taught school, mostly primary grades. Later, she was a secretary at TMSI, then Data Based Decisions and next office manager for the Coronado Chamber of Commerce for 1986-1994. Lynne supported many service organizations. At one time, she concurrently published four newsletters. For excellence, Lynne was awarded the 1996 Navy Leaguer of the Year by the Coronado Council. Lynne was friendly and open with lots of pluck; she had the knack of bringing out the best in everyone. She enjoyed camping, sailing, golf, bridge and travel. Lynne is survived by her husband Ned; three children, Sally (Rafa Orellana) Huhn of Madrid, Spain; Peter (Susan) Huhn of Temecula; Joe (Lori) Huhn of Orinda, CA; two stepchildren, Jennifer (Jason) DeBord of Lawrenceville, NJ; Jonathan (Gemma) Floyd of San Francisco; five brothers and one sister all in the east; seven grandchildren; and two step-granddaughters. There will be a wake at the Coronado Cays Yacht Club at 3:00 p.m. on Sunday, November 13, 2011. At Lynne's request, in lieu of flowers, memorial gifts may be given to Shipley School, 814 Yarrow St., Bryn Mawr, PA 19010 or to Friends of Children United Society (FOCUS), P.O. Box 180023, Coronado, CA 92118.
