Marion Traynor Obituary

Marion Traynor San Diego Marion Hatton was born on a small wheat farm in North Dakota and soon moved to Warm Beach, Washington. She lived a rural childhood, attending a one-room schoolhouse and playing in the water of the Puget Sound right across the street. She excelled at swimming and catching salmon, skills that she used for many years. She moved to San Francisco after high school, living with her two sisters, Joyce and Gayle, and another friend, in a one-bedroom apartment a block from City Hall. She worked as a theatre usher, as a clerk for the British Ministry and then for Standard Oil.She married Naval officer Bill Traynor in 1945 and they raised three children while they moved from one Navy town to another, San Diego, Great Lakes, New London, Annapolis, and Norfolk. Every summer Marion packed the kids in the car and drove to Warm Beach for a healthy outdoor summer. After Bill retired from the Navy, they moved to Northridge, where Bill taught in the California state university system, and Marion volunteered at the Veterans Hospital. They enjoyed many outings on their 22-foot sailboat, Blue Ayes.Marion and Bill retired to Rancho Bernardo in 1993, leaving their Northridge home three months before the big Northridge earthquake. They later lived in the Belmont Village Retirement Home for six years.Marion is survived by her three children, Kathe, Jim, and Steve (and wife Cindy); her niece Barbara Reed (and husband Rusty); grandchildren Ryan and Keli Kramer, David Traynor, and Will Carrico; great-nieces and nephew Debi, Cheryln, and Mark Hawley; and nine great-grandchildren and one great-great-grandchild.Marion was known for her warm kind spirit and love of people. She was an avid reader and she loved her extensive music collection. We already miss her! May 19, 1925 - May 31, 2018

Kathe so sorry to hear about your mom, I loved how kind and gentle you were at Dr. Dickinson's office. She must have been a wonderful Mother to have a great daughter like you.

Kathe, so sorry to hear about your mom's passing my thoughts are with you. It was wonderful to see you and your mom together when you would bring her to the dentist. Your mother passed on her warm kind spirt to you.
