Mark Geurin Obituary

Mark Christopher Geurin
May 10, 1957 to October 2, 2013
Resident of Capitola & Watsonville California
On October 2, our beloved son, brother and uncle, Mark Geurin, went peacefully to be with Jesus. Mark enjoyed Special Olympics, attending the Hope Senior Program and spending time with his family, especially his mother. Mark always attended his nieces' and nephews' special moments and events. He loved dancing, karate moves, bowling, Michael Jackson, Rocky movies, Big Macs and especially his morning coffee. The family would like to express our gratitude to the wonderful doctors and staff of Dominican Acute Rehab Unit/Hospital and Kindred Nursing and Transitional Care - Santa Cruz. We also appreciate the kind and compassionate care of Hospice of Santa Cruz and Pacific Coast Manor. Mark was preceded in death by his father, Arvy Geurin. He is survived by: his mother, Joyce Walen, of Capitola; sister, Debi Sanchez, and her husband, Bill, of Aptos; nephew, Daniel Sanchez, and his wife, Jenn, and their children, Claire and Leelah, of Watsonville (Daniel and Jenn lovingly cared for Mark the last seven years of his life); niece, Dana Yao, and her husband, Will, and their children, Elias and Tessa, of San Jose; nephew, Matthew Sanchez, and his wife, Heidi, of Capitola; nephew, Jonathon Sanchez, and his wife, Lynette, and son, Ari, of Redwood City; niece, Fabiola Tiscareno, and her husband, Rafael, and their children, Briana and Bella, of Watsonville; brother, Scott Geurin, and his wife, Juanita, of Watsonville; nephew, Scott Geurin, of Watsonville; niece, Roxanne Geurin, of Watsonville; and many more family and friends. Mark has affected his family in a profound way with love, sense of humor and enthusiasm for life. We will miss Mark very much, but know we will see him again and hear him ask, "Where you been?" A private memorial was held in Mark's honor.

Mark, your sisters Charlotte and Charlynne and I miss you very much. You were a very large and important part of our lives. We loved you very much! Your smile was catching! How could anyone be sad in the beam of that smile?! You will forever be missed and loved, but I know that your Daddy welcomed you home!

My brother Tim was Mark's roommate and friend for many years. I always looked forward to Mark's big smile and handshake when I came to see Tim at his loving home with the Sanchez family. Mark was a beautiful and special spark of love that I am sure the lord and heaven are embracing with love and peace. My heart goes out to all of you in his family. Please know that Mark touched many lives and those of us lucky to have known him will miss him very much and were blessed to have had him touch our lives. May you find comfort in the beautiful memories and each other.

Mark you are strong and playful with an endless smile. It was fun watching The Incredible Hulk and other action movies with you while we spent time together in the ARU at Dominican. I know your family loves you very much. I felt your enthusiasm for life and am very proud of what you accomplished!
Enjoy your next journey!
